Hello,
My 2004R transmission has about 20K since it was rebuild for the third time. (193K on the car). With about 10K on the car it started to have a delay in the 1-2 shift at anything past 2/3rds throttle. (the RPM’s flair pretty high. Anything below 2/3rds throttle it shifts fairly crisp without any delay. I was told that it is slipping? I think it might be a servo or governor problem? It does have a trans-go shift kit and an orange stripe converter. I have tried to adjust the TV cable but it did not do much. Could it be because it is stretched from the mileage on it? Any inside would be great. I would like to bring it to the track in the spring.
Thanks in advance.

I would take it back to who built it and ask them what they think. It is fresh rebuild , right? It does kinda sound like a 1-2 accumulation problem but they owe you the tech support so see what they have to say first.

Bruce, THanks for the reply. Unfortunatly for me the guy that build it will not even look at it without paying him. He said that since I race it he will look at it for free. I only has about 10 passes at the track. what would cause an accumlation problem and what should I check out or request they guy to check out. I just don't want him to say it needs another rebuild when it probably doesn't.
Thanks,
Dan

Well which is it? He will work with you or is there a charge?

Well, If I have to tell your builder what to look for , you got more problems than you think. I also dont want to piss this guy off as he should KNOW what to do and how to test. Good luck and if you two cannot resolve get back to me. :D ( I hope you see my point)

I understand what you are saying Bruce.
He will work on it the trans, but for a price. I just wanted to make sure he is telling the truth to me. BTW, the next time I need a rebuild I will take it to one of the proven builders like yourself. :D I learned the hardway :(

If I were you.....

And I had any doubts about the honesty of an individual that was working on something that was so important & expensive, I would look elsewhere for advice. I understand conveince, however, with any doubt Time to shop. As you say, you are past the warranty period, and , I guess, He feels no longer obligated to help you, which he really is not. But , if he wanted to gain your patronage for life , he would offer to at least diagnois , and give you the straight scoop. If you cannot trust him to do that , and he has no initiative to assist, he does not really want you for a customer and it is time to go elsewhere. For the sake of both of you. :D

Good Luck and keep me informed. :)

Hi Bruce,
It looks like I need to go elsewhere to a new shop. :( THe company that rebuilt the trans told me to check if the TV cable is out of adjustment and if it isn't then there is an internal problem. Well I checked and the TV cable is fine. He told me he doesn't want to work on my car b/c of the fact I take it to the drags a few times a year. So besides bring it a few hours away to Jack C. what other options do I have? I do not know of any local comapanies that specalize in Buick 200's. Can I go to any trans rebuilder if I do not have a major problem?
I hope I do not have a major problem. It does shift good under light throttle and it does not seem to slip. Any suggestions? What does it cost to send it out to you from MA?
Thanks,
Dan

Sorry, been busy. And I am leaving for LA right now to go to Reggies dyno Day. Can we chat next week? give me three days of peace ( hahahah) and we will hook up Tuesday. I can assist you.

No Problem Bruce, I know you muct be busy. I will give you a buzz on Tuesday.

Thanks,
Dan
:)

Hi Bruce,
Here is what I found to answer your questions. The servo casting numbers are 8635694 and the servo can travel in about .150". What is the next step I need to do?
Thanks for all your hep so far.
Dan

ahhh.,

.150 is a little much. Was this after the email exchange or before? heheeh I will wait to hear from you...:D

Bruce has been very helpful with my transmission problem. I wish all the vendors were as helpful as he. Bruce is a class act and I look forward in doing business with him in the future.
