Hey guys, I just finished reading some links on how to do this and I just had a question for you. I pushed the D shaped tab in, slid back the slider into the locked position, and then moved the throttle cable as far as it goes (I am pretty sure). My question is, isn't the slider supposed to pop back out to the longer position? I can't get the slider to pop back out and I'm not sure if I just need to pull harder/more or what's going on. Any suggestions or experience with this? Thanks guys!

Get in the car and push the throttle to the floor.

I tried that a few times and no luck, could the floor mats be enough to keep it from getting that extra little bit?

Possible...Are sure it hasn't moved at all?? Sometimes if they haven't been adjusted in a long time they stick and you have to push kinda hard.

Tried moving the floormats, didn't help. It seems like the slide starts to come out a tiny bit and then either I'm running out of room to move the throttle linkage or it's stuck. Should I try prying the slide back out with a screwdriver or something while I'm pulling the throttle linkage?

Next question does the pedal go all the way to the floor??

Cable could be stretched.

Why does everybody get so hungup about the cable when it doesn't ratchet out?
Just hold the throttle wide open at the carb or throttle body & push the button & pull the cable back till tight.

I got it figured out and the car is shifting better, thanks for the input guys!!

I hate people that post a problem, then come on here and say they got it fixed....and never say what they did to fix it!!! :D

Good point and my bad! Honestly I'm not even sure it's fixed but it's running a whole lot better now. The articles I read said too loose or tight is bad, and it looked like my slider was at full extension when I started and all the way in when I pushed it in. I then saw that some people were talking about adjusting their cables 'one click' or 'two clicks' or whatever they needed, so I just moved it out to the middle position more or less and took it for a drive. It now shifts right where the articles said is ideal for the 200R4 to shift and it seems to be alot better. I know that's not a very technical solution, but it's honestly all I did and it seemed to have done it!

I had the same problem, not ratcheting out. Changed to a 2" shorter t.v. cable (TCI) and still nothing.

Ended up holding carb linkage to wot and pulled cable to max. t.v. and locked it in.

Ran real hard shifts, then backed off the t.v. cable to soften. Then the worst, I began to thing it's way off and I'll smoke the trans.

Took it to a local trans shop and had it set up with the gage, I had it set at 60 psi in neutral/idle. They set it at 95 psi neutral/idle and max t.v. is 230 psi. or 280 psi.(would have to look in my notes).

Now it drives lots better and I can sleep at night.:D
