Detent Cable

Whats up I have a 81 gp with a n/a 3.8 and i think the trans is a 200 metric...Ive had bad results trying different detent cables...the first one i bought from autozone the thing didnt fit right on the transmission the tube that fits in the small hole where the detent linkage goes in the trans was too big....after that i bought the second one it fitted in the transmission but the part of the detent cable that hooks to the accelerator was too long so I had to bend the end of the detent cable to hook it to the accelerator thing...where can i get a cable that will fit on both ends without modifications

For soemthing like that, I would go to a junk yard. There should be plenty of cars with that engine/trans combo.
