I will be moving overseas this year. Of course will be getting a car. Guess no more Turbo Buick's for a while. Gas prices are super high. The LPG cars are dual fuel. LPG and Gas. My father in-laws car is a lpg car. Have driven it quite a lot. The LPG is a l lot cheaper but is seams to run out pretty quick. I did not do any calculations so I dont know if it's all in my head. The lpg tank is smaller than the gas tank and just have a simple 4 dot light on the dash that indicates LPG level. Diesel cars are very popular but very expensive. Just a regular car is pretty expensive. Just an example 08 Honda civic with over 100k is about 19k. So This is why I need to choose a type of car wisely. Not sure what effect the LPG has on the car...does it reduce the mpg or raise it. Yes it's much cheaper but may be reducing mpg by a lot. I did some quick math on todays prices on fuel.

$7.75 gal Diesel
$8.88 gal Gas
$4.72 gal LPG

What type of fuel powered car should I aim for?

I have tuned vehicles running on LPG. Based on my limited experience, LPG will get slightly better mileage than gasoline. The oil will look brand new no matter how many miles are on it, but be you still need to change it regularly. The LPG doesn't have as much lubrication for the top end, but I'm sure the engine manufactures have taken that into consideration.

I remember seeing those prices in Bermuda 10 years ago. Where are you going?

I was in Izmir last September and really enjoyed it

Lived there for a few years when I was in NATO. My wife is from there.

LPG has lower energy content than gasoline, therefore for an engine to make same power on LPG than gasoline, more fuel is needed. Fuel economy on a liquid injected LPG system will be approximately 25% less than on gasoline.

True that the lubricity of LPG is less than gasoline. Hardened intake valves and seats should be used with any gaseous fuel system to prevent premature wear of these items. Domestic OEMs offer a gaseous fuel prep option which includes this. I'm not sure what they do in Europe.
