The transmission in my 86 t-type shifts at the same rpm in D or OD. The only difference between the way the trans shifts is that I have one more gear in OD. I do not have a trans brake! My son had the trans in his 87 turbo t rebuilt and a trans brake installed. His trans now shifts at 5000 rpms plus at WOT while in D but short shifts at 3500 at WOT in OD causing engine knock! Is this how a trans is supposed to shift with a trans brake? The guy that built the trans for my son says yes. I do not think it is right but only have experience with my car with no trans brake. I would like to know your about experience. Is the different shift points in D and OD how yours works? Any and all comments would be appreciated.

my buddys trans acts up in his trans am... 700r4 i believe
he had the whole thing built up alot and a new valve body and he said that is why his short shift... that he has to do it manually because of the manual valve body!.. well this probably doesnt help you much but just a lil insight for ya!

best of luck

tell the builder his bullsh#T story isnt accepted or welcome here.there is a calibration error.it still should shift higher .there is a crossleak somewhere.those who have made this forum a way of life know better.tell him to fix it.

Chris718, I guess you are saying that my transmission works correctly! It shifts at the same RPM wether in D or OD. Is that correct? This is exactly what I thought. My sons transmission does not work right. The builder screwed up and needs to make it right! Right?
