Hello
I am new to the whole turbo buick i want a grand national but the regals look similar and they are cheaper. What are the diffrences between the regal t and the gn
Thanks

The Ttypes have lighter wheels (aluminum) than the GNs. The inner bumper braces on the Ttypes are usually aluminum and therefor lighter than the typical steel bumper braces found on most GNs. The Ttypes usually have less options than the GNs which makes them lighter.

Ttypes are lighter in weight than GNs but have the same drive train.

I've also heard that the reason most Regal Ts are not black is because black paint is heaver which also makes Grand Nationals (all black) slower and they didn't use primer on Regal Ts to further reduce weight! The combination of no primer and thinner paint resulted in more rust holes, again reducing weight. That is the REAL reason Regal Ts are quicker than the much heavier, slower (black) Grand Nationals!

The Grand National package (WE2) is an option on top of a Turbo T Regal. You get the black paint job, two tone bucket seat interior with center console and the GN wheels. All GN's come with option (W02) also which gives you black out trim. Turbo T Regals are faster all things being the same because they are lighter as stated. F = M x A. They are also far more unique than GN's due to the variety of colors, interiors and trim options in my opinion.

T Types actually can have more options than GN's. Such as Landau tops, opera lights, fender lights, & wide chrome strips at the bottoms of the doors.

The 86-87' GN was the Anniversary car for the Last Rear Wheel Drive car from Buick less there Power Wagon.(Why they made the car so fast). T-Type's where the Knock-off's of the GN's if you didn't want the Anniversary car.

(P.S.,I'll Except all races from Aunt Betty's!!!,But at the end the 1/4 mile there's a Road Course to Finish too...8^)...)

Enjoy!

What was the anniversary of? The T's weren't knockoff's, the GN was just an appearance package on top of a Turbo Regal, and GN's were slower than T's from the factory. My T 100% bone stock with 170,000 miles still went 14.1, my GN stock (except fuel pump and chip) went 14.4.

Accepting all races from chrome T's for 1/4 and turns? When and where? There's a course in Ft Myers: http://www.gulfcoastautocrossers.com/

They did use primer, however the metallic paints they used where such crap. If your Ttype was painted White or black you might stand a chance of keeping the factory paint job.
