Which is easier to hook up in my car, DS or turbolink. How much more useful are these tool over a scanmaster. Will i be able to tune my car just like i was on a dyno if i used one of these tools, to show me where im lean or rich and where the hick ups are in my car? i have the scan master but right now my problem is i think in fueling which i can really only guess at without being able to record a run and look at some graphs. Are graphs created on DS or Turbolink, which is better. My combo is listed and im hoping for high 11's on radials. Will it show me boost levels too?

This subject polarizes the TR community as much as any topic I've seen here. You can see a comparison of the scan tools out there at http://www.turbo-link.com/tlink/scanchart.html

It seems any which way you go, you give up something another scan tool will do for you (recording time, printouts, air/fuel ratios, injector pulse witdth, usability in one form or another).

Do a search on scantools, or turbolink, or directscan and you'll see hundreds of heart felt posts chronicling the advantages of one tool or the other. Once you have a feel for the advantages of both, pick one, or two, or three. Some run tlink and DS simultaneously, go figure. :)

you have to modify the ecm for the direct scan, it plugs into the actual circuit board. takes about 15 min. to modify the ecm and the hardware mounts in the dash. it has a fast update due to being plugged into the ecm rather than throught the diagnostic port. its the best money i ever spent on my car.

I woulden't really say "modify"

I don't like useing the word "modify" to describe it, Seems too scary. All you really have to do is pop off the end the flap on the outer casing of the ecm and clean the edge of the board inside real good. Nothing too involved.:)
