we are all entitled to an opinion and this is mine on this subject. Not that i'm right, maybe i'm wrong but: meth has no octane rating, if it did it would be somewhere around like 150 octane. I'm not just talking about unleaded 100 octane here, but race gas in general. Meth/alky does not make more power, it makes a cooler intake temperature permitting more timing and boost which makes that power you talk about. If you were running 20psi of boost on alky and pump gas running 11 sec passes, and running another car with race gas, lets say 112 leaded, running 11sec passes, neither had any detonation but had the same build, proper tune, where is this mystery super power alky possesses? Like I said, and I believe, it is a cheap additive to pump gas, instead of spending money on real gas. It is more economical yes, but there is no mystery, it is what it is. Hey Lou, do you run alky on that twin turbo small block? just curious. Last time I talked with Archie at gnperformance, His elky is running in the mid 10's with something like 15psi of boost on race gas, no alky. There are a few others around here who dont worship alky, but we all have our prefferences, and maybe one day i'll try alky. But not before some good old fashioned race gas that has proppelled hundreds of thousands of racers down a track safely

I agree. Alky is great , but peace of mind(aka race gas) is much better. Do you see any pros running gas + alky injection?? No, it's one or the other. Stick to the basics and don't be a HG "member"

I am already a member of that club. That is why I wanted alky as a safety net. For me, driving the GN daily, alky was a better choice. Although, the car still hates me. :frown:

Yeah right mid 10's on 15 # boost! I smell a little bull sh##t ! Hell why waste money on race gas at all ?.My point is these add on alky kits will give you more power than 100 octane unleaded with a good tune. Which of course is limited to that value. Once you surpass that, race fuel is ness. Yes we do run race fuel in the TT car & make 1300 H.P. on 10 # boost

HAHAHAHAHA LOU that's funny, please give me the secret to make 1300hp with only 10psi or maybe turboelky can ask Archie to share the his recipe for Mid 10's on race gas and only 15psi I also pull out the BS flag. ;) I sure like to know how he can achieve that, maybe there is an extra turbo hidden somewhere under the hood.

thanks

that is what I was looking for, a true race car running race gas :) exactly. I was'nt specific to 100 octane, I always ran c12 in my small blocks period. They were race prepped, and I stand by good gas, and not the kind out of wickeds a$$ as far as 15psi and mid tens, I cant tell you what he see's in his elky when sliding down the track, but i'm sure some here have seen him run the car, and could varify his times. That is on race gas only, and thats my point. And wicked, ask Archie for your self, whats so funny? his elky would kick your gn's butt in reverse :D hahahahaa! i'm done

for now.

This timeless quotation was a gift to me when I first started my Buick career. It has withstood the test of time & goes like this ( If you can't dazzle them with brilliance.Baffel them with bullsh#t) My all time favorite is the B.S. about how much boost was actually run & exaggerating ones E.T. & MPH. Now no one could ever accuse me of such accusations ( blush )

fastest i've seen his elky run was 7.60 in the 1/8 at irwindale, i dont know where you get 6.70's on only 15psi of boost which is what he will have to run to have a 10.50 second time slip in the 1/4  keep dreaming. :)

wickedsprayer

I could care less what he runs, if I was dazzled with bs, then he can bs pretty good. My whole thing here is race gas is superrior to alky. There's nothing to make fun of me about, by the time i'm in my late 50's, I'll have some nice tt stuff under my belt too  lets see, hummmm, 26 more years to get there. :D I too hope in the next 26 years I learn to bs and bedazzle people too. :o

Yep! It's an art that takes some practice.Yes I'm teaseing you a bit also. Of course racing fuel is the best way to go if you are really leaning on it.But are we talking about street cars or race cars? My point is why make the gas companys any richer. For most guys an alky kit will support a reasonable power level safely with out the hassels & expense of raceing fuel. So don't be in too big of a hurry to get older.

turbo elky

you gonna join us tonight at irwindale?
nailhead says he is comming.
probably be others there too, ( its our buick night out !)

I can't sleep! I'm reading all this and laughing my a$$ off. "Look" Race gas will always make more power, but why not find out how fast you can go on pump gas w/ Alky? Then move on too C16?

I drive my car HARD everyday! Oh and it cost me $14 every two weeks for Alky going 60mi a day. "BIG DEAL"

5gal C16 $54 Fthat I'll save it for the track after I max out the Alky.

All I'm saying is I'm running faster then most with race gas. LOL

tune, tune,tune,tune, tune,tune,tune, tune,tune,tune, tune,tune

You guys have a great weekend. ;) THANKS LOU!!!!!!!!

The voice of reason has just spoken.

me

I was just arguing the fact that race gas is a fail safe race prooven necessity to a drag car etc. Yeah I've seen first hand how alky works, my other point was that some people think they can run alky like ITS gas. As for me, I cant even run my car HARD every day, due to a tranny. But, when I can, I only drive it uhhhh??? once a month? twice? stored all winter  but for a daily driver, yes alky would be the ticket. My voice of reason has just spoken, and Lou keep jokin??? hey, that has a catch to it huh :D hey wicked, just put some race gas in that alky container, you'd probably still have your so worshiped over stock head gasket
