It's off-road racing. Anyone who gets close enough to watch is putting themselves at risk. That's on them imo.

They can't errect a 200 mile long barrier. Trucks are gonna crash and often do. That's part of off-road racing. I would very suprised to see any arrests made unless the operator was under the influence of some sort of drug.

Im not sure what legal rights people will have to sue either. Ur in the Desert racing. People know the risks. Unfortunate nontheless.

Yea i agree with brett , it is tragic that they losted there life.. But ive watched them races on tv and have always seen people running out towards the tracks egging there racers on.. there even so close in the corners there getting roost thrown at them.. Just like at dragstrips... anything can happen.. everyone knows the risk!!!!

If one thinks that "assumed risk" defense is valid, just look at nonsense such as what the "hot coffee in the twat" suit ended up being. The list goes on, and on.
When lawyers and juries made up of morons, get together, the bounds of lunacy are endless...

California Highway Patrol has gotten themselves involved...

What business do they have at an OFF ROAD RACE, none. Just the government wanting to get more control of everything that we do.

People are now calling for bans and regulation on this type of racing.

When will people accept the fact that life has risk? Anything you do carries a certain element of risk. The more you try and eliminate risk, the less FREEDOM you have.

Eventually we will be so "safe" from everything we wont have to worry about freedom because we won't have any.

oh and I love how in the fox news story they make it seem like the two drag racers were the ones that plowed into the crowd when in fact it was a car that had nothing to do with the drag racing. Its insane to me they are putting those guys in jail for 15 years for something they didn't even do. That would be like charging a street performer with manslaughter if the crowd that gathered to watch was hit by a car.

What is this country coming to?

The anti racing and anti off roaders are gonna have a field day with this.

And you can bet fro every injured person there are 500 out of work lawyers promising $$millions for being stupid. And welfare queen juries will award $$ millions to those idiots.

Next will be a requirement for crash proof fencing which will eliminate any more desert spectator races in this country, but that's what the greenies and govt wants anyway.

This is what happens when govt gets involved. In this case they turned desert into wilderness areas to stop the Barstow to Vegas run. So instead of having people strung out along 200-300 miles they are all congregated around a 50 mile track.
Gotta love govt regulations
