Not sure how much this helps any of us out, but found a DIY standalone fuel/injector controller thingy. It's bank to bank or batch, doesn't do SFI. It also won't control spark. The good news is it's easy to program with a laptop over a serial cable, and you build it yourself for ~$200.

One of these along with an MSD DIS might be a pretty powerful/cheap combination. The designer says it's not hard to add the hardware to make it SFI, it just doesn't come that way in stock form. Also, it's a speed density or Alpha-N system, so you can avoid MAFs if you want. Runs standard GM sensors. HTH,
