Hello folks, I would like to know if anyone has built a stand for rebuilding these transmissions and what is needed in the way of versatility?
What is the best way to mount it for easy disassembly access?

Stand

I made a bracket to bolt it to an engine stand sideways. It allowed me to rotate it and work on it upside down or front side up etc...

Any pics of that bracket so I can see how it was attached? Thanks

Bracket

Don't have any pics, but it's pretty simple and easy to make. It's pretty crude really, I didn't spend a lot of time on it.

Seeing the pro setups that bolted to the pan rail, I used a piece of 1" angle iron and drilled one side to bolt to the pan rail, and drilled it from the otherside to bolt to the engine stand. Worked for me, and was a hellofalot easier than doing it on a bench. ;)

PaulRV6, I sent you a couple of pics of my brackets. If they don't
show, e-mail me and I will try again. :)

If you don't mind, shoot those pics my way as well. I am looking to make a tranny build stand that bolts to my engine stand. Can't hurt to look at what others have done. Thanks.

We make one and will sell it.

It mounts on the case and the case is upright. Also it has an adjustable, output shaft screw so you can set the planetary drive train set. It will allow you to completely build and ck.

That sounds neat..

What do you sell them for bruce? How do they mount, and do they allow you to rotate the tranny over? I like the part about having the output shaft screw.

Does it also center the shaft for easy of installation like the bracket setup from kent moore or whomever, or just allow for tentioning the shaft?

Tell us more!!

Those are all questions I would like to know as well. Please let us know Bruce. Thanks

Well put it this way

We have 5 or so always going at once. We use this "brackett" for lack of a better term.
It mounts on an old trans case (TF) or to a hole in a bench or stool or whatever you decide. I am sure you could make it work. It does not , however, allow you to tilt the trans which I see no reason to. You build trans and put up on a bench to finish assembly of the valve body. Yes it helps centering the output shaft.

We will be back around on Monday the 5th if anyone is still interested.

And I just discovered my site is down. Great start to the new year eh?

one note though

The fixture fits 200-4r's & 350's a 400 & 700 are a bit wider I believe so if you have those build accordingly.

Hope it helps someone.

Jim, just tried to open your link and it does not work. Can you repost it so I can see the trans stand. Thanks

tranny holding fixture

Me too :)
I will be faced with this problem soon so I too would appreciate a picture or diagram so I can plan ahead on my rebuild.
TIA
