DIY wheel alignment ?

has anyone tried doing their own wheel alignment, as described at http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/suspension/alignment.html ?

or is this insane?

why DIY? , one may be quick to ask. It's because I dont relish the thought of some goon with a giant metal belt buckle, leaning over my fender and banging on my detailed engine compartment & suspension ...

I do my own alignments all of the time. Its kinda of a PITA but it is convienent, especially if you like to experiment with different combinations. Have you checked around in your area for a shop that does quality work, not just one of the national tire chain places? Where I'm at there are at least a couple of shops that specialize in the high end imports and street rod type cars. You'll pay a little more but it might be worth it for peace of mind.
