The bracket mounting my TV cable to the transmission is broken. Has anyone used an aftermartket/universal TV cable or one from another vehicle successfully? The stock one has been discontinued for a few years now. . .

The cables work fine. Get one for a TPI car so its long enough.

You'll need to run to the junkyard and get a bracket off another 200-R4 or 700-4R.

I meant the little moulded plastic piece at the end of the cable that screws into the tranny. I think of it as a bracket. Maybe a "mount point" would be a better definition?

I recently bought a TV cable from Murray's. It looks nice but it does not "hold" at all. It slips out (loses it's setting) very easily when the throttle pulls on it. I was able to make it hold by installing a fine thread screw to use as a lock and make it hold. Car is in storage for winter otherwise I would post a pic for you...

The steel "button" part of the adjustment mechanism has a 1/8" hole in it. I tapped that hole for a 10-32 and installed a ~3/4" long screw in there to load the button and make it lock the cable hard. Also has a jam nut on the 10-32 screw to lock the screw in place so it can't move.

Thanks SSedan64! Actually, the lower end repair piece might do the trick and alow me to keep the stock cable, which worked perfectly before I snagged it with the tranny dipstick tube pulling the engine/tranny out. I hate cars . . . LOL

you may want to try bowtie overdrives they are pretty sharp guys with quality parts.
