Yep another grudge race question...lol
It's year from now so I have some time.
Good friend we get together every year or so at an event and have a great time racing.
I've raced my NA TA previously and beat him but that car needs a down year for some work.
He will either bring his 2012 5.0 stang which ran 12.6@112 on street tires. Or his 78 Trans-am which runs 11.4@118 on drag radials or 11.90 @118 on street tires.
My GN is as listed in sig but I did pocket port the heads while I replaced the HG's.
Can the Buick be tuned with the parts I have to take him?

Drag radials and a 8lb launch should do it. Have you run the car b/f? With the parts you have it should be able to run consistant high 11s.

Car has never been on a track or really raced.
Looking at some BFG or Nitto tires . Gotta be daily driver friendly even though I rarely drive it.

Wonder how 275/50/15 nitto's will fit on stick wheels?
I have not finished the new alcohol system install yet. I am running it with + 20% fuel and pulling 2 degrees timing to keep it at zero knock on the scanmaster at 14 psi. It feels at least as strong as it did at 21 psi with alcohol, stock turbo, inter cooler, and untouched heads.
I am hoping alcohol and another 7-8 psi really light it up power wise.

I think I need a fuel pressure gauge before I start pushing it the fuel pump is about 8 years old
I heard the TT chip assumed a certain part of the fueling would come from the methanol but having to add 20 percent seemed high. But maybe that is to be expected running1 without alky .
How do u know when your out of injector ?
O2 low .
I did buy a LM1 system wide band for tuning later as well.

I've never really had much luck with the Nittos or BFG's. Really liked the Mickey Thompsons but they don't lass that long if you drive a lot.

Mine's gonna be a DD so that's why I'm going with the Nittos. Might get some MTs later but I haven't even started modding yet. I hear what you're saying about the Nittos though as I've read about them on most of the TB boards. :)

I don't want to bust your bubble, but if you've never been to the track...... it is hard to run a number representative of what the car is capable of in one outing..... unless you do this stuff all the time and got your stuff right before you go to the track. Just getting the car to really move out of the hole at the track is a challenge if you aren't used to it. The hole process of staging and launching at the right boost is a challenge.... and holding the car at the line to brake build boost. It isn't impossible..... but it isn't exactly easy if you aren't used to doing it.

My guess is you have enough parts to go mid 11's, but I wouldn't be surprised to see mid 12's if you don't have your A game on......

You'll need some sub 1.7 60' times to get it in the 11's..... and low 20's on the boost probably.

I agree I just am wondering if the car can run the number if I do my part.
Been running the TA on regular street tires the last few years so getting off the line on slick tires I understand and it is tricky and I don't always get it right.
Turned my best times this yea starting in 2nd gear ( manual trans ) lol..
Hoping for a car that will pull mid track to top end like mad to make up for less than perfect traction.
If he brings the TA I don't figure on having a chance really.
Still hoping though. I need to trap at least about 115-118.

I'd say you have parts to run low 11's. But its the track time that you'll need with the car to find out what it runs now and what it runs with more boost, let alone practice launching these cars. One cheap trick is to launch off the parking brake to build lots of boost for a slick tire launch. The 42# injectors should be ok with alky. I ran 48# injectors to 127 mph in the 1/4.

Car does have hydroboost brakes and the trans has a transbrake that Ive been to scared to use so the parts are there to leave hard except for the suspension which is all stock .

This will help alot.....

I've been thinking of hooking up something like an bright LED somewhere to an adjustable hobbs switch that lit-up at a certain boost level..... like 8 psi or something..... that way.... you didn't have to study a boost gauge...... just let off the brake.... or transbrake.... when the LED lit up.

That is easy to do with a Motorola boost sensor for about $25 good from 0 to 32 psi. and a voltage comparator circuit another $10 and some LEDs.

I use the same setup to log peak boost accurately during a run, without looking at gauges driving, since I don't have it logged by the powerlogger yet, and it was in the car years before powerlogger was invented. :p

I think there are 4 comparators on a chip so you can have it do things at different levels such as turn on a relay and activate an alky. solenoid to add a nozzle etc.

Simple '80's CMOS and strain gauge electronics but very accurate, safe and proven technology.

Send me a conversation about these details.... those hobbs switches are high by themselves....

I've had the power to go 11.9 for two years, you won't do it with stock suspension.air bags at lest

I believe there are plenty of cars that go 11's with bone stock suspension. His also has that potential IMHO.

You put a 28x10.5 MT slick under that dude and launch on 8psi - 12 psi boost and have a good tuneup in the low to mid 20's on the boost..... she will go 11's any day of the week....with his combo.

IMHO, based on your sig.... you went 11.80's at 113 mph...... there should be alot left in your combo based on the MPH. I have been 113.47 with my stock turbo 1st time to the track in 6 years with my car....... but couldn't ET better than a 12.3 because of a stock tranny....that didn't want to (1-2) shift anymore at WOT..... I should have easily gone in the 11's, but you know..... shoulda... woulda.... coulda......... if you don't show the slip.....it didn't happen.

You said it these cars will MPH,you need a 60ft to ET.I couldn't without suspension work
