Either transmission fluid and/or motor oil sprayed the bottom of my car a while back. Looks like there was a chemical reaction from the cleaning agents and the whole undercoating is now mushy like a “wet tar”. Any idea how much this STINKS to work under the car while the “tar is wet”?

Thought is would "dry off" and re-set after 8 months in hot weather but I was wrong again!
What are my options?

i would scrape all the undercoating off the whole car and paint it with POR 15 it will never peel off not even with brake fluid and i goes on like paint. thats what i did to my car and its great and it is well worth the time trust me! and its relitivley in expensive too. like $10 a quart

Thanks!
So, is there an easy way to blast the old stuff off?
I can't see myself for a week scraping and  about getting all the  off.
High pressure washer of some sort?

There is the old trick of using dry ice and CO2 to remove undercoating when you are trying to build a lighter race car. I wonder if it would work to cure the undercoating too? You usually would use this process on the interior where you would lay the DI on the tar like body sealer and when it become harder than rock you would hit it with a hammer and it would break off. Anybody have a CO2 fire extingisher(sp)? I dont how cold those get but I'm thinking that would be a cheap way to find out.

i am not sure if an aircraft stripper would work? but i used an wire wheel on a drill :frown: and it did take a while but with por 15 you just paint over surface rust thats what they reccomend the shiner they metal the harder it is to stick so there is minimal prep work
