Does anyone know the OEM cam specs for these V-6's?

Does anyone know the OEM cam specs for these V-6's.....


4.1 & 3.8's are the same I believe. What I'd like to know is:

Lobe Centerline
Int & Exh duration
Int & Exh lift
Intake centerline.....

My Buick manual will not reveal this info. Perhaps someone out there knows....

My engine is going to be back from the machine shop soon.....I decided to go with a 4.1 instead of 3.8. I ran my setup through Desktop Dyno 2k and it gave me 319hp@5500 rpm and 317ft-lbs@ 4500 rpm. I can only hope that it is close to that! How accurate have you found Desktop Dyno2k?

I am currently testing Desktop Dyno 2000 for accuracy....that's why I need the stock cam specs. Once I've gathered and entered all the stock data....it should give me ball-park 110-115 HP.

If it's on the mark.....it's just an O.K. program. Though I personally don't like its price tag, ($39.99). It does'nt do enough for that kind of money.

The nice graphics and all cannot be printed as one sees on screen. Neither can one save the graphic data as an image file. Saved files can only be shared and seen by someone who has the same program.

I guess if someone was in the bussiness of constantly building up all kinds of race engines it would be a nice tool to have.

Most Dyno programs out there suck! This one is slighly better....

I think I found a way to save the DD2k results as an image file. Im going to download a shareware screen capture program that saves the files as a jpeg. Which should makew the results viewable to anyone regardless if they have the program or not. If it works Ill post a link here.

Hey Freddie.....it worked. Heres a link to the program I used, it allows you to capture the window and save as a jpeg, bmp, gif.....etc. If you want to see what the capture looks like, I posted a test image on my user page. Copy this link into your browser

If you have any problems, post here and Id be glad to help you out. Im thinking of using my userpage for something similar to yours, maybe DD2k combos for the N/A 4.1 and 3.8. I also have Drag 2000 and CamDisk2. I could post the "theoretical" 1/4 times for each combination.

John....you are one cool dude! I am now going to try it too!
When I linked up to the trial image you posted it was shrunk down. I clicked the image size increaser that 's part of Windows 98 SE and the size was viewed perfectly!

Now we can share our results with the rest of forum members. We can even give them a DD2k result on their info....awesome!

Let us know how the machinist did with your 4.1.

What info. do you need to enter into DD2K?

How specific must it be? I would be interested in what it says my combo should make.

Dude,

Click on my website and click my engine's dyno. Look it over, that's pretty much it. This is the info needed for HP estimates for a Desktop Dyno 2000.
