Im wondering if the 3.5 maf LT1 needs to be clocked or any position will work , I know it has a direction arrow on it for flow , I know there is a blade inside and what position does it need to be or does it matter .

I don't believe it matters. I just installed my LT-1 maf and translator, and in order for it to line up nice I had to turn it about 45*.......fired it up and she runs great!

It doesn't necessarily "need" to be clocked. However, it will affect the airflow reading slightly. Sometimes you can change your BLM's a few numbers just by rotating the MAF one way or the other.
