I've followed this site for some time, A lot of smart people here.I have a 1987 almost stock 68k mileage GN. Today I started to hear a noise from somewhere in the engine, Kind of a tapping noise you could hear inside the car at about 2000 rpms with the door open in park.. The bad part is the tapping sounds goes away when I remove the spark plug wire to the number 2 plug. I'm thinking rod bearing? The tapping only goes away when I remove that plug wire. Can I just replace that rod bearing or is a rebuild engine my next course of action? I can't do this myself so I will need to fine a good repair shop in CT

Well - you could pull the oil pan and take a look at your bearings - it does sound like a rod bearing though. It also depends on the condition of your crank.

You are lucky that you live close to Cottons Performance - they did my motor 10 years ago and have been really happy with it.
