looking at a 95 Z28, but I found some interesting info from the seller. It was a GM prototype car, built in late 94 with all 95 improvements. The car has 19K original miles, 3.42 posi, LT4 cam and head package, M6 tranny, 17" Vette wheels, hardtop, Bose stereo with no speakers installed, AC, and all that crap. However, the car has decals under the hood and door jambs that say "Prototype: Not to be Titled" and "Emissions Exempt Vehicle" The owner claims the car was purchased from a GM engineer in Detroit and he is going to scan and fax me documentation. Does this seem weird, or like a good deal?

When a friend of mine worked for Hot Rod Magazine (Cole Quinnell) he would come by work when in town with cars that had these stickers. They were "loaned out" to the magazine editors, press and so forth for evaluation. They were not supposed to be sold to general public when they were done. Otherwise, I don't know. :D

Well typically they're auctioned within GM employees. The employee is then requires to own the car for I think 4 years before they can resell it. That way they can't make any profit off of the car. I really don't know about the stickers but one of my friends talked with a guy who is testing a new Z06 for GM and the selling internally thing is what he told them was going to happen with the car when he was done.

one thing is for sure....when I test drive it tomorrow, I'm gonna drive it like its on the proving grounds! :D

If it was built in late 94 I would doubt it was a prototype since the 95 models often start selling in late summer of 94. Even my 87 GN was built in 86.
