im having a problem ,with the door bell chimer in my 87 turbo t. it seems that while driving, it will begin too chime for no aparent reason .any body ever had the same problem with there car ,and what was your solution .thanks in advance RR::cool:

I have the same problem. I just turn up the stereo. If I fixed everything on this 200k mile turd, it would cost me a fortune!

these cars are supposed to have a door chime?
i gotta check this out, maybe i just havent notcied it before

Chime Module

Do a search for "Chime Module". It's located in your "convience center" of the car (between the steering column and radio). Not an easy place to get to. Module is black, about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Controls the seat belt chime and headlight on chime if you happen to leave your headlights on by accident.

Ooops, my bad. Mine dings for no reason with the "fasten seatbelts" light not the door chime. Also, ever since it was stolen I can't honk the horn without it killing the car. I then have to unplug the computer and reset it before it will start again. Do you know how hard it is to drive down here without a horn!!!:D

My old GN was stolen from Richmond VA, The fasten seat belt light and chime went off all day long. It was shipped on a truck to a buyer who never paid. I did not own car, but my friend bought it from me, then he tried to sell it. It has a bad paint area on the left front fender, T-Tops, ATR 3"pitbull, OH Well, My friend is an idiot for shipping the car without money first. His insurance Co. paid him back. Now I know why insurance rates are bad. Too many idiots running around.

I was just thinking the same thing.

thanks guys ,ill see if i can find that little black box .;)

I'd take that thing out and throw it off a bridge. Who need any more ding-dongs in their life, or a flashing seat belt light?:D

Just in case you want it to work properly, the GM part number is 25524794. Not a very costly fix.:)

Okay so what do we do if we have a chime module part number 25519224 that's been disconued by GM? This one is only for 82/83, it has wires that hookup under the dash. The 84/85 ones were just one black unit.

ive seen them on ebay. mine does the same thing, will get a new one eventually. it seems the money has to go somewhere else more important on the car first.

Man I've been putting off tracing wires forever. Glad that it might just be a  module

Chime Module

My car used to chime all the time when the lights were on. when i had this problem on my car it was just the seat belt fuse blown.

Part number for the 86-87 comes out to $60 + $5.50 for shipping as of 25 Aug 06. Not that cheap... ;)

Probably will still get one. I keep forgetting to turn off my parking lights. :o

I'v had this car for over 3 years and until I read this thread and went out into my garage I WOULD HAVE BET MONEY my car had NO "dinger" but opened the driver door and turned on the park lights and "beeeeeeep" hmmm who knew?

The chime modules come in two flavors: One includes seat belts, key in ignition, and headlights on.

The other does not include headlights on.

I know because I was too cheap to spend the $12 or so for the lights on chime option when I ordered my car new.

A few months back I went to a cruise night and since it was dusk I had my parking lights on. I parked tha car and went to check out everyone else's ride. I came back about 2 hours later and there she was glowing like some evil brick. I thought for sure I'd be needing a jump. Luckily I didn't need a jump but I keep telling myself that I simply need a friggin reminder...
