Is it just me or has this crap gotten worse? Just turned away another one, they're all selling that same citrus based cleaner. This one was "a college kid from detroit, man. Trying to get through school" This is like number 4 this year, most of em hit me up at work (car dealership). This guy pissed me off most cause I was cooking supper and he left all pissed off when I politely said I was busy and not interested. If i'd have known that I would have answered the door with "GO F*** YOURSELF YOU WORTHLESS BASTARD!"

Get a real damn job. Anyone that needs to prey on people that are too nice to say no just needs to jump off a f***in cliff. The world would be a better place without them.

Rant over. But I know I'm not the only one in the world that's sick of these guys.

Yep had to put a crappy "no solicitors" sign on our nice front door. Never fails they always come to the door when we FINALLY get the kids down for a nap.

I've thought about killing one and hanging it on the front porch to serve as a warning to others...

This one was sneaky. I thought it was a religious speaker at first, they aren't as pushy. And since the kids ran up to the front door and looked out it's pretty obvious someone is home. Then when you open the door BAAM out comes the bottle and the towel with the little piece of scotchbrite hidden inside. Then I'm the dick because I didn't budget $100+ to buy way too large a quantity of their crap. But thanks for leaving a clean spot on the front rug, now I have to clean the whole thing.

Just after I got out of high school we had the witless or morons trying to solicite my parents neighborhood. I was working and living at home that fall and as usual I would go hunting as often as I could. This was early September so dove season was open and I'd just gotten back, cleaned the birds and my shotgun but was still wearing camo. Door bell rang as I was walking to my bedroom to put the shotgun up. Went to the door with the chamber open and the barrel pointed down figuring that my neighbors new me well enough that it wasn't unusual to see me in camo during hunting season.;)

When I opend the door I had 2 guys standing there wanting to talk to me about "my salvation". Well the first one hit the other in the ribs after noticing that I was wearing camo and gear still and after the first statement that I heard I turned the barrel up on the shotgun and the chamber very loudly closed.:D Both sets of eyes got really big and for some reason they didn't want to come in. That was in 83 and even today no one solicites that neighborhood so you might think about it.:p

They use to come to my house (before i lost it) and ask for a second chance or some bullshit...they would approach me while i was mowing my lawn, i would shut it off and ask "what the hell did you do with your first chance?"...i would then point to the half million dollar colonials around me and ask "you think im one of them dont ya?" Then explain i live in the neighborhood cuz i work 600 hours overtime a year ajnd i suggest you start doing the same...went to my local packy n got behind one of em in line, he was buyin some cheap ass nips of whiskey or some shit off the counter..lieing smelly scammers

I'm not normally rude to them because I understand that they are just trying to make a living just like I am.

That being said....some of them give you no choice but to be rude.

I'm usually not concealing anything when I'm outside, um wait a minute,,, I'm usually packing when I'm outside. Wait, um, a big gun, but it's on my hip, yeah that's what I mean... cuts down on any nonsense. They pretend they were looking at the car for sale and leave pretending they weren't that interested if they've already screwed up and gotten outa their car! ;)

Otherwise
I have a stone driveway that's heavily strewn with spent steel case ammo shell's up at the house end. It seems to do the trick, except for the Jesus ladies who still come to the door. Oddly enough tho, they only ever want to hand me their literature.:D
They usually ask to pray inside the house with my dad at his place. Ah, the pitfall's of concrete revealed....:p;)

never had a solicitor or a 'trick or treater' ever come to my house! :D

I'm not rude to the religious guys/gals. Right or wrong, if they're knocking door to door they usually genuinely believe in what they are there for, but that's another argument. The sales people are just too chicken $hit to get a real job and want to push some overpriced crap on people that were obviously not shopping for a cleaning product. If your stuff is that good, put it in a storefront and you'll do well. Don't fly by night from town to town peddling crap. I'm becoming increasingly more intolerant of these worthless bastards, they are one step above street bums IMO.

Nowadays I am more concerned of door-to-door sales people turning into forced home invaders. They get you to open the door and then bust on in. We pretty much don't answer the door anymore but I am considering a camera for the porch because sometimes I don't even answer when its my neighbors.:(

Yep the ones around Joliet try pushing newspaper subscriptions while a buddy sneaks around back and tries to break in the back door or take whatever they can from the back yard.

We always get mid to late teens hawking magazine subscriptions. They give a b/s shpeal about if they sell x number of mags they get x prize and so on. They are usually inner city kids that are slick talkers. Now I just cut them off b/f they even get one word out and say I'm not buying any subscriptions and they just leave. When the Johova's come I answer the door in my underwear. I've been working in the yard when they come up to hand me "watch tower" so I ask them to grab a shovel or rake and help me. They walk away. They always drag their kids out in the worst weather too. Hate to say it, the worst are the police/firefighter phone calls looking for donations. Give once and suddenly you get a call every day. Newest thing is they use cell phones to call. Was waiting for a call from someone on Craigslist yesterday and my wife picked it up. Police Patrolman's Association. Out $40 now. I did get a nice little sticker though.

For phone solicitor here's a trick for you to try. Caller ID is common so you know who's calling. Once you find out who's calling pick it up and start hitting the # symbol repeatedly and repeditively. Most of them are computer generated and it screws up the dialing program.:D Found that out from a friend and it works pretty good.;)
