Need to upgrade an was wondering which route would be best.. I know a Dp will support low 10's an I'd like to say some day i will be there. But as far as a external such as aeromotive with a sump on stk tank or fuel cell an larger fuel lines would this route be more cost effective an keep up better with fuel demand?? Also is there a standard of the fuel line size an fittings you need to pull all of this off.

IMO a dp in the tank is the way to go. you will not have any problems running low 10's with that set up. cost wise in my firebird I did a weldon 2015 with -10 feed & -8 return, after buying all the braided line, fittings, fuel cell & pump I have well over $1200. the big down fall to the external pump is it's LOUD, it's lowder than a honda @ wot.

the double pumper allows you to retain a streetable car since youve really not messed with the fueling under normal driving , you run the same single 340 pump , but above 10psi the other 340 kicks in and supplies the addition fueling , no need to modify anything on the system no noisy pump and no issues for emmisions

some others might say buy once ,go big and dont look , well if you ever get to the mid 9s and feel you want faster sell the double pumper the tank and your fuel lines and go external since at that point the car will be mostly just a race car due to the full cage youll need to be running ($).
with the external youll go with braided line , an fittings, a modified tank (sump) or a cell and then theres the fuel rail and injectors that would also get upgraded and as you get to the nines if you havent already you'll be close to leaving the crank on the ground so then theres the whole bottom end engine buildup ($$$) on which youve already spent bucks on ported heads and fmic and huge turbo so whats another couple hundred thrown in to do the fuel system
besides ive also heard there are issues with the aeromotive ( externals race type pumps ) on street driven cars due to high fuel pressures at idle due to the volume , maybe someone with an external will chime in on that subject

Ok

well i got the build to go mid 10's when i can get it tuned..ported heads , girdle big turbo an all that other stuff ya need . Finally getting everything squared away :D ... Car is super sweet an was just wondering aobut the fuel system. I guess no faster then I wil ever go say 10.30's -10.60's , the Dp is the way to go.. I hear that Reds is the best over ATR's not sure exactly why..laready spent enough an that 1200 estimate above is lil more then what i want to do right now.. thanks

My 85 has a RA DP modded to accept -10 feed and -6 return.

Once you see how the factory sending unit lines are kinked over, youll see why I decided to mod mine. And my 2nd pump runs all the time.

By the time its all said and done,id get a noisey Weldon any day of the week.

And if my broke ass can afford braided line and an fittings, you should have no problem;)

I agree on the dp setup. Until you have a ~ full on race car, it's just hard to beat. Mine went nearly 120 mph in the 1/8th with dual 340's in the tank :D It does have an upgraded feed line to a -8. The return line is still stock.

I am also running Red's DP setup with a -10 feed and the stock feed used as the return. I have a light that is wired into the second pump 12 volt feed so I know if and when it comes on. I had an Aeromotive external and was very loud.

I also have a ATR dp and i like it soo far, my car should go mid 10's ( no track time yet) how did you guys up grade to a -8 or -10 feed with the dp?

IMO there's really no need to worry much about the feed line until you are well into the low 10's or so. But when you do change to a different feed you get to put on a higher capacity filter at least. I put the Aeromotive replaceable element one (or equivalent) on mine with -8 AN ends. All I did was saw off the barb end of the fuel tank hanger thingie (the pump discharge pipe) that attaches the stock feed hose; then slipped on a compression fitting that has a -8 AN male outlet. Kinda cheesy, but working; If I ever get around to it I plan to silver solder (?) a fitting on instead of just pure compression fitting- the pipe stub it tries to seal to is too irregularly shaped really for it to work 100% well IMO...
