Which DRs are least likely to land my TTA in the ditch on a rainy day?

The MT DRs on the GN are scary in the rain.

Maybe Nittos?

i have tried em all they all suck. The m/ts seem to be the best.

All of us that went to the BPG Columbus know what kind of rain hit Sunday afternoon. I drove home 3 hrs in that with Nittos on running the speed limit and never had any problems.

BFG drs are scary in the rain. hav'nt got my MTs wet yet. Hopefully never will.

Nittos are just fine in the rain. :)

I agree, they let you drive the speed limit in most rains.

Not scary at all.

Not so good in the snow however. :p

By nature a drag tire is not going to function on wet pavement. You want the largest contact patch possible at the track. This contributes to hydro-planing on water.

I would never drive in standing water with no tread on my tires. Extremely dangerous!

Yeah but still, one might be better than the others.... hence the post.

I run the the Mickey's and don't have a problem unless I'm going over 60 mph. If I stay slow the back end stays straight. I would advise that you never go faster than 55 mph with ANY drag radial in the rain to stay safe.

I run the Mickeys on the GN and did a 180 when it shifted into second in the rain...doing 25-30 mph. I don't drive on them in the rain at ALL. But I will drive the TTA in the rain and I'm looking for the safest option in DRs.

DR's and rain

The Nitto has enough thread to allow you to drive in the rain. You can usually drive speed limit, you still need to be carefull.

+1 for the Nitto Drag Radials... got caught in the rain a FEW times and didnt have a problem as long as I didnt try and get on it. Speed limit and normal driving... you will be fine.

I love my Nittos in the rain - the Nitto 275/50-15's are better than BFG TA Radial 235/60-15's in the rain, so long as you can still see the cross-treads on the Nittos. I've gone through 2" deep ruts filled with water on I95 at 75 mph and never had a hint of hydroplane. I've also driven in the snow with them 2 or 3 times, just to prove I could, but it was really silly and slippery. About 40 degrees is where they seem to harden up - colder than that and on a few psi launch they won't hook any better than a regular street tire (but not any worse, either), warmer and they hook ok.

we run MTs with no problem... common sense may play into it to though

The thing about common sense is.....it ain't that common!

Anyway, everything is easy for you!!!:p  :p

I drove the 2004 Power Tour on a fresh set of Nitto DRs. There were Many miles of rain and I had no problems. They actually surprisedh me with how well they held in the wet stuff. Maybe it was just because I was taking it easy expecting a white knuckle ride

So the MTs have better manners in the rain than Nittos ? Or do you guys just ROCK!!!!

I think the Nittos were the best in the rain .. we went to the HUGE 325/50/15 MT's .. been caught in rain and they wern't bad .. no I didn't try goin 80 but went 55-60.. took it out Sunday in drizzle and it was fine 70-80 down the highway no problems

I was shocked by how well BFG D/R's connected in the rain when they were relatively new, AND inflated to 32psi. Under 60mph on the straight they were better than BFG T/A's.
IMO, if you have a tight diff, no tire is going to stay put during the 1-2 shift while turning in the rain, especially if its still deflated to 12-20 psi.

I have some M&H's 275-55-16's but haven't been in the rain with them...Dunno how they'll be...

Claude :)
