Good idea with the petition thing. Everybody mentions the drive to WPB as being the big hassle, which it is, but the bigger problem IMO is that we have 1 drag strip to service a population of over 5 million people. I doubt you will find that ratio anywhere else in the country.

The big problem with Broward County is that there is no land left. I work for a big real estate development company and we can't even put enough empty land together to build another corporate park. Broward County is built out. The only place to put a track would be in Miami. Sucks for us broward guys, but at least it would relieve the congestion at Moroso.

I agree with you on all points. The problem is that the laws and media are ruining the fun for car enthusiast no matter if you wanna just show your car, or race it. I think a track close to the dade/broward border would not be to bad for us broward guys. At this point, anything would be better then nothing. But try telling that to some yuppy politician.

I hear you alex! Its a bunch of bs that they harp about the street racing, but they don't want to do anything constructive to change the situation. They'll spend millions of dollars to save gopher turtles, but they won't spend a dime to save human lives, and a track would actually make a ton of money down here.

I am quite sure that if the Seminole Indians realized the profitability of a track in South Broward, you'd see one pop up almost overnight, and they certainly have the land to play with. ;)

There was word a while back that they had an 1/8 mile ready to roll...

also the Homested strip was going to fly. I know they are doing work there to increase the track angle, don't know what will happen down the road. Dade would be better than Broward, if you ask me, :D

Thanks for the info...

Interesting information on this topic..

Peep's, there may be more to this, this time around, for real. My future-son-in-law works for a **BIG** P.R. firm that has been in secret negotiations recently with Dade and Broward County people. He is in weekly meetings about this. I think we're headed somewhere this time.

All I can say is there are two on the drawing board. Bergeron is one name in Broward, and Dunn is the other name in Dade, both own tons of land, and both want to be the first with a facility, with their name on it. The race is finally on... Let's see who's first...

Jim Hass had the info above and shared it over @ www.sffba.net, where I originally got the idea to post the petition from. This could be very good news.
