Going to be taking off the 275/50 DR's and switching them for 275/60's, so I bought a black, 27 tooth driven gear. I searched but still not sure how to replace it. I believe this is the gear that is not accessed from the pan. Anyone got instructions and/or pics on how to do this?

Thanks,

Doug D

Where the sppedo cable conects to the tranny near the end of the tranny tail, unscrew the cable from the speedo drive, and pull it out, there is a 10mm nut retaining the speeedo driven unit (speedo bullit) into the tranny, unscrew that 10mm bolt and carefully pry out the speedo bullit, it sometimes is a little snug, a large flat screwdriver will help pry it out using the slot for the retainer, when its out, remove your old gear, and install a lubed new gear and reinstall the reverse of removal.

I tried the other night with no luck. I pulled out the 10 mm bolt and the black "bullit" out of the case. The bullit seems to be spring loaded, I could slide it up a few inches to expose the cable, problem was I couldn't pull the cable up out of the hole. Is the cable barb installed into the top of the driven gear? The speedo cable is on the front passanger side of the tranny correct?

Also the 10 mm bolt stripped when reinstalling the buillit, anything I can do there?

Thanks,

Doug D

Speedo cable goes in the the rear driveside of the tranny, sounds like you were at the TV cable.
