hello everyone, well i found that my drivers side header has a crackin it. from what i can see it has been welded before but looks like the welder just covered up the crack. i am having the typical problems of a cracked header no boost at line, low boost, etc. woudl this explain my crappy times at the track??? and is there a good place i can take it to, for repairing?? or shall i just get a postons or ATR replacement??? TIA

I would say that is a BIG reason for your woes at the track. I don't think it's everything, but definitely something. Personally I would probably get the replacement header from Postons and be done with it. I think I was the ONLY TR owner that never had his header crack. But I sold it already and have a set of ATR headers now... But it's been welded once already, why re-weld it? The replacement headers aren't that expensive compared to the cost and trouble of having the stock one rewelded over and over.... But just the path I would take here....

That could be it

Hey FTC. My brother seen you at Jack-n-box in the grand nash. Anyway, I think that could be very well be the reason for your bad performance. When I had the car, I checked high and low for a vacuum leak, exhaust leak, you name it I tried looking. But I never even thought about the header because I talked to the original owner and he said he had already had the exhaust manifold welded. I thought the egr would solve everything but guess not. I remember spraying all the hoses with carb cleaner for vac leaks, changing the check valves. Sorry to say but I can't refer you to anyone I know to weld the manifold. I tell you what though, if it were still my car I would just save to buy the Poston's manifold and not worry about it again. :)
