SignUp Now!A sticking yoke spline can take out a rear unit thrust washer or worse, a needle thrust bearing in the transmission. The thrust washers and needle bearings weren't designed to take forward pounding of the output shaft. Not to mention the load on other thrust washers and needle thrust bearings from the rearward pull of the output shaft from the sticking spline.
Don,
Just so I'm understanding what you're putting down; As the driveline articulates through it's range of motion the driveshaft moves into and out of the tail housing of the trans. This being said if the splines on either the O.D. of the output shaft or I.D. of the yolk are twisted or damaged that this can put abnormal loads on the thrust washer or needle thrust bearing in the trans causing premature failure right? Sounds sensible to me.

but will I need to also get a c-clip eliminator kit? or does the c-clips hold them in?
One's a Yoke.
The other's a Yolk.
You have a degree in english don't ya? I'm just a knuckle dragging mechanic you know that. BTW, you never called me back after multiple attempts to reach you. This is the yoke my wife has for me.
