Driveshaft speed sensor?

So.. I have a 3.5" driveshaft and wondering what type of driveshaft speed sensor setup I need for an XFI 2.0. All I see on Fast's website is something with reluctors in the 2" range?.. definitely not understanding how this all mounts up because the driveshafts are just about always at least 3" or bigger.

Anyone do this that can provide some guidance?

They typically have a collar that clamps around the pinion yoke on the rear axle.

Exactly Alan. They sell them in two sizes. You need to measure the pinion diameter just in front of the pinion seal. For those using the Casper adaptor harness, it is designed to use the factory speed sensor

Oh so my xfi is already picking up speed from the factory sensor? It seems off on the data log unless there's some calibration needed?

Yes, The calibration can be adjusted at View/System Configuration/ Sensor Calibration/ Rate Sensor Calibration.
The easiest way to do it is to open up the gauge panel and watch the mph while adjusting the MPH Calibration until the mph reads correctly

awesome.. so glad this forum works with some good resources! I had no idea the caspers box picked up the signal. I was just about to waste some $ on a sensor for sure.

Seems like my fast isn't reading mph anymore after the xfi upgrade and edash install. Any idea what are good starting values should be in those cells in case the program totally changed everything up? Also not sure what each cell means for sure.

The upgrade should not have affected the MPH sensor calibration. The working value for the turbo Buick driveshaft calibration is 1800 and MPH calibration will be around 730 for a 27.5" tire (this is what my numbers are). You will have to adjust the MPH calibration for your particular tire and gear ratio.
