dropping my tranny

Hey everyone. I have the joy of dropping the tranny saturday for an overhaul because I have no first, reverse and neutral! See pics at Http://hometown.aol.com/racemybuick/myhomepage/auto.html

I was wondering if there were any secrets to making my life easier under the car, and what kit do i begin to build the tranny with. What selenoids can I purchase and where can i get some good stuff to take a beating next summer?

John, the first thing to do is go to a trans parts store and buy yourself an ATSG assembly manual. Make sure your work area is flawlessly clean, spend the time to properly clean all hard parts, don't buy cheap parts, use lint free clothes, and make sure you don't rush yourself. These transmissions are good working units, but even many "pro" have trouble getting them to work right. Most times it's because they didn't realize the importance of thorough prep work, and clean assembly.
