I got DS off of another lister and just finished installing it in my car. My laptop has Win2k so I did not expect any problems. I copied the DS file onto my desktop and when I click it, I get a message saying Virtual Device Driver is invalid. I can click IGNORE and it will boot up, but when I click DIAL REALTIME DISPLAY the DS locks up. Doesnt matter if it's connected to the ECM or not.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I saw those threads. I attempted to make a DOS Boot disk but couldnt figure it out. The directions for XP don't coincide with Win2k. Does anyone know how to create a DOS boot disk from 2k?

You can't make a DOS boot disk from Windows 2000. Sounds like you are using your laptop from work.

However, if you would like I can make a self-extracting disk image of a DOS boot disk. You would just have to put a floppy in the drive and run the executable I can send you.

Even though this will work for you, you will be running DS from the floppy. This means that unless the partitions on your laptop's hard drive are formatted either FAT16 or FAT32, then you won't be able to save anything to the hard drive. You'll have to save the DS run to the floppy and then transfer it to the hard drive when you boot back up into Windows 2000.

Let me know if there is any interest for this executable I can provide.

Thanks, that'd be fine. I know I'll have to run it from floppy, but it shouldn't matter. Until I get another old laptop I've gotta use the work one. I used to have an old 386 with DS...but it was in my old car when the "incident" occurred. But that's another thread.

Program that makes DirectScan boot disk

Ok everyone. All you need to do is follow the link at the bottom and download the file. Pop a floppy in your drive and then run the file you downloaded. It will make the floppy for you.

Get in touch with me if you have any questions.

By the way those are ZERO's not capital O's if you want to retype this somewhere else.

This works! Thanks alot, it's greatly appreciated. Should be a sticky link, for sure.:D

I'm glad it helped you out there Ian. I'd be more than happy to leave the file up on the web server if they want to make the link a sticky.

Bob,
If you just hit the link earlier in the thread you can download the file. make sure to get the directions off of the webpage as well. They are pretty easy but you should probably grab them none-the-less.
