I have an ATR exteranl gate. My friend says that if I just cut off the longer arm that goes to the pipe it will reduce heat and the boost will be more efficient(he says it will be rock solid). what do you thinks? my friend knows alot about turbochrged cars I just want know what you guys think. thanks

I dont think he is correct, that pipe is essentially doing just that, dumping off exhaust to control your boost level.... If you have the pipe with the deltagate the reroutes the expent gas back into the downpipe, its doing just that, vent to atmosphere via the downpipe so its QUIET and should control your boost rock solid...

My green car has the external pipe with a gate from atr, my boost is rock solid, if not then you might try lubing your valve... if the valve sticks open it will slow your spool and your boost will fluctuate because the valve isnt moving correctly....
Do you drive the car often?

I drive it daily, but he says the turbo will be louder and he says that if I extend that pipe closer to the bottom of the car the heat will go down in the engine bay. I dont mind if the turbo is louder!!! :)

If you cut that pipe and dont put the expent gas back into the exhaust, then it will hiss once your up on max boost, it will sound like a high pressure valve letting loose, kind of like purgine a nitrous bottle, but alot louder.

It wont make the turbo louder, just make the exhaust louder if you dont put the gated exhaust back into the exhaust stream...

I dont see the point in doing all that work for zero gain in horsepower, if your worried about under the hood heat, get a alum radiator with dual fans and a cold air kit
