86 gn stock. tcc feels like its locking up at about 30 mph cold. feels like its in 4th gear. A quick tap on the pedal produces a strong "jolt". when i unplug the 4 pin connector on the trans it shifts perfect. why???
can i leave it unplugged???

thanks,

It's not uncommon for these TCC solenoids to go bad as old as they are getting. I'd advise you to replace it; it's easy and inexpensive. DO NOT simply disconnect it as you will wind up overheating your transmission!

i have not changed one of these things before. whats involved???
i have heard the 700r4 tccs is an upgrade, true???

thanks

The solenoids are easy to change, drop the pan, two bolts hold it in and just pull it down, it has an o-ring and may be a little stuborn to pull but comes right out. You will have to cut and splice the two wires back into the new one, it should come with the splices. I believe the solenoids are universal for the 200 & 700's

Oh shizit!!!!! I've been driving around like this for about a year now!!!!! :o :o :o :o :( I had a similar drivability problem that was corrected by disconnecting the TCC. I wanted to get it fixed right, but time just kind of flies since I've been so busy at work. Not to mention the only decent trans shop is Don's shop about 100 miles south of here. I hope I haven't fubared my trans!!! I thought by disconnecting the solenoid it wouldn't be any different than driving around with a non-lock converter. Guess I was wrong. How much damage could I have done? :(

We have exactly what you want. The kit is 20.00 + freight.
It is NOT in the on line catalog so if you order thru there just email me what you want. Lemme know....and I will add it next time I am working on site.
