Ok guys, havent started modding the GN yet(waiting on tax money) but was gonna run it on the dyno to get a baseline so ill know how much it improves. My question is what's the easiest/cheapest way to be able to adjust the boost on a completely stock 85 GN. Was thinking of upping the boost a little for the last pull just to see what kinda diffrence it would make. Right now it gets almost to 10psi and starts to fall off. Thanks for any replies.

I was in your situation with my orig. stock 85GN. I had the same dumb idea as you. You need to buy an adj. waste gate actuator.
I did this and tried to adjust the boost down and went the wrong way. Blew up my engine on a hill going 50mph.

If you are using the stock idiot light band boost gage you have no idea what your boost really is . These original gages are worthless. I had a real one installed.

I would upgrade the headers, exhaust, fuel pump, fuel injectors... before I would fool with the waste gate without a real boost gage. The website GNTTYPE.org has very detailed recipe's for increasing performance on a hot air. Go look at them. Brad

I have a VDO boost gauge installed. Guy i got the car from gave it to me new in the package. I hooked it up at the fitting in the front on the intake. Wasnt planning on going up much and was gonna keep a good eye on it.

Also, before you start messing with the boost levels, make sure you have at minimum an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and a higher flow fuel pump. The last thin you wanna do is blow a head gasket or cause any engine damage due to engine overboosting. If you hear any knocking or pinging when doing your runs back offf the throttle.Start off with low amounts of boost. Just my 2 cents :D

Dave I've got a Walbro 307 fuel pump, new adjustable Accufab fuel pressure regulators, asjustable wastegate kits, a stainless steel 2.5" downpipe, '86/'87 radiator fans, '84/'85 chips, & lots more stuff to help your GN run quicker. Ride on over sometime if you want. Thanks.
