I'm pretty sure that's what this is!

This morning I found a 11,000 mile GN on ebay, ran a car-fax & it was clean with exception to failing emissions last year with 9,000 miles on it. The odd thing about it was it was either showing to be in Wisconsin or Ill (can't remember, looked @ so many lately) & the car location was showing as Oklahoma in the auction.

He only had 1 under hood, 1 interior, & 3 exterior but from what I could tell it looked pretty good.
In the verbage of the auction he says buy it now for $7,000 but ya gotta email me 1st.

This auction had only been going on a few hours, anyway by the time I get him emailed, & go back & check the auction it's showing a winning bidder @ $3,500

So I check my email just now & here was is reply:
Hello,
First, I want you to know that I live in USA,but for the moment I'm in
England. One month ago my cousin died in a tragic car accident.
My cousin's familly needs money urgently and that's why I am selling this car so
cheap, because I want to help them.
The car is in very good condition .It has a clear title which you will
receive it along with the car,the tech docs and two rows of keys.
The car's price is $7,000.
Regarding the payment method I would like to use eBay as a third
party for the deposit because eBay will protect us.
The car is already into eBay possession, they inspected and tested the car to
see if the description on eBay matches with the real condition.
Look how they work:
1.I will contact them , and I will send your shipping informations to eBay.
2.They will send us mail forms (the forms will be from customer support
team) about the payment deposit.
3.These forms must be filled by every part of this deal(me and you)
with all the things that they required.
4.We must submit the forms.
This means a third party.
After all that will be done, the car will be shipped from eBay,and
will arrive to your place in max. 5 days.
You will receive a tracking # in the same day that the car will be
shipped from eBay.
I forgot to tell you that the shipping will be free if you will pay $7,000 for my car.
If you want to go on with this deal , e-mail me asap because I have another
interested buyer and I need to sell this car fast.
Best Regards!

The link to the auction I have saved on my office computer & i'll post it in the morning.

Ya'll think it's a fraud? I do!

Yeah, its obvious

what a retard, I hope no one fell for that

any time they start off with something like "....but im in xyz country..." you might as well chalk it up as a scam

Wow! I remember seeing that exact same scam from over a year ago. Same wording and everything! Shouldn't be long before they up their game as more and more people are catching onto some of the standard operating procedures these guys use.
Good Eye though, hope someone didn't get taken.

I *REALLY* can't believe so many of you guys STILL fall for this.. Its been going on for years on ebay and they are all almost word for word the same thing. This is almost as bad as the email scam about the Nigeran bank that is gonna give you big amounts of $$.

That's the whole problem. People continue to buy into this garbage. I see reports on the news, in newspapers about people losing thousands to these scammers. You would think people would have half a brain by now to realize your not gonna get a yenko camaro for $3,000. It really is common sense.

scam's are goin on EVERY day ....especially on Ebay !! I can't believe anyone would "go for it" but if they do it's thier own greed taking over thier brain

he has use that same email reply for the past year or so. EVERYONE should know by now,he is a total scam!

That toolbag had a different car advertised locally in autotrader. He said it was located in Lake Geneva, WS so I said I'd like to come look at it since I'm close. He emails me and says oh I can have it shipped, etc. I said I live 10 minutes away, I'd like to come look at it. He then says, oh I'm out of the country right now there is no one to show the car. So I ask him if there is no one to show the car, how is someone going to ship it to me. He didn't email back.

I always go along with the old saying "if it's to good to be true...."

However, if you happen to be in the right place @ the right time you can get deals occasionally.

Late last summer on a Sunday I was @ the office with a appointment in less than 15 minutes that I was late for, found a '69 GS 400 vertible in GREAT condition with a legit buy-it-now auction of $8,500 which was a STEAL!!

I tried to bid but it was like the system was locked down & wouldn't let me, the auction had just started & someone else probably found it & was bidding @ the same time. When I came back a few hours later it was GONE!

I also bought a '98 LS1 TA in TX last year off e-bay for $6,000 with a open title. Got it home & sold it for $7,300 with $415.00 in expenses to go & get it.

So their is deals out there if you can be there to catch 'em in time.

Here is the link to that GN I was talking about.
