Has anybody noticed that the prices of GN are going up on eBay? I was looking at one that had GNX rims and 24K miles on it and man it seems high priced. The price is up to around $20K. The car is nice looking outside and inside but I know that mine is just as nice and mine even looks better under the hood but I dont think Id ever get $20k for mine. I know Ive seen a few other ones that have been high priced on there too. DO you guys think there is a buddy jacking p the bids for these guys or are GNs really getting that high priced? I dont know just wondering if you guys have noticed this at all? ---Jeremy

I am not so sure. If you search past GN's & TURBO T cars on EB.
I notice a low amout of sales that actually happen.

I say 1/4 of the cars sell & the other 3/4 get relisted

I have seen a lot with low miles and high prices, but as was posted earlier, they really arent selling. The ones that I see that sell usually go when there is a low starting price. No matter what shape the car is in, no one wants to open up the auction page and see $15,000 (reserve not met). Everyone likes to start low and then they stay interested in the auction.

Yeah I noticed a lot of low priced GN in the past couple of months but in the past couple weeks, it seems like they are going up. There is no doubt that our cars are going to be the next Chevelles and GTO's!! WHAT A HOBBY!! It actually can somewhat pay to have this hobby if we wait long enough!! ---Jeremy

GN's are on their way up and will continue for the following reasons.

1. There is the performance legacy.
2. There is some mystique to them.
3. Most "car" guys like them - whether they are Chevy guys, Mopar guys, etc.
4. The turbo motor makes them unique.
5. They look the part of badass musclecar.

If someone were to ask me what musclecar would be a good investment right now, I'd tell them a GN or a TTA. Think about it, AMX's, Dusters, even Novas are bringing big$$ The entire market is up across the board including GN's.

I've owned Chevelles, Camaros, etc. The GN is much more fun and interesting IMO.

Hang on and enjoy the ride and if you are selling your GN, please do not let yourself get sucked in to selling it for what GN's were bringing 2-3 months ago, because this market is volitile and dynamic right now.

I have been into and owned musclecars for a long time now and I pay close attention to the market. GN's will continue to go up and in the next 5-10 years things will explode I'd bet my house on it.

I hate the TR/GN people who slam someone for asking "too much" for their TR/GN. I have seen a lot of people on these BB's who complain about a car looking like crap and the person asking too much for it. It's these people that hurt the value of our cars. If people can get $10K out of a 100K mile car all the power to them! We should ALL ban together to get top $$ out of our cars. This is what makes our cars more valuable and prolly more respected..
When I get ready to sell mine this year I'm not taking anything under $9k for it and if it takes me a few years to get it so be it.

IMO, Once a car gets so old, condition becomes more important than mileage.

That's a valid point and I would have to agree with you. Few of us I would imagine are collectors, and as such have any strong knowledge of what the market for collector cars is doing. Plus our frame of reference is a little skewed I notice. Lots of comments abound like "that's too high I paid (blank) last year" Well things change.

There should be no critisizing a GN owner who stakes his claim and asks for more than what we feel it is worth. Heck, if someone wants to pay it who cares?

When you think about the performance these cars are capable of and compare them to what a new car costs that can compare. Suddenly 20k for a clean lower mileage GN becomes a steal!

FWIW & IMHO:
E-bay by itself is a not a very good indication of values of our cars, and probably not of any other cars either. However , prices reflected in a combination of E-bay, Auto-trader, Collector car trader on line, Cars on line, Kirban's, Hemmings Motor News, Turbo trader cars for sale, & Deals on Wheels do reflect that these cars are going up gradually in value. Not drastically escualting, but steadily climbing. People can ask what they want to for these cars, but probably not without reproach when they are for sale on any media publication. If somebody buys it, fine, and if not, oh well. And as much as I hate to say this, as I know it may not be received well by most of you, this could also be somewhat of a bear market for cars such as our. People could be buying only because they see someone else buy, just like as in the stock market, and that could be the primary driver for the increase in sales/prices. Basically, as stated above, "many are called, but few are chosen". I have seen the GNX/GN/T-Type/Turbo-T/TTA market go up and down over the last 10 years or so, but in general, values of our cars do seem to be on the rise in general. No flaming intended here, just my viewpoints.
Notice that Kirban's has only 1 turbo car for sale now. And some of the less than ethical sites enter a car several times just to make it look like it has a lot of cars on its site for sale. For instance, Cars on Line never deletes a car, even after it sells. These sites can't get hits if they don't have cars for sale on them, so they delete cars as little as possible.
