It really doesnt matter how many bolts hold the dump cover on.
I have no idea what a dump pipe cost these days,But it doesnt look bad.

I was thinking the same..

As long as it doesnt leak when closed, theres no problem. Put it on and see what happens. U might just like it.

Vendors such as these guys and gn1per...., ssauto...., etc.. on ebay are hard to buy from IMO. At least if you buy from a vendor that supports the boards here we can help you if there is a problem. Got to watch these fly by night guys:rolleyes:

O and dumps are usually 3 bolt...

I've seen worse welding jobs out there. You can always cut off the two bolt flange and weld on a 3 bolt if you want. Weren't there pics of this thing in the auction?

Its one of these fly by night guys.. they make stuff for ALL cars.....I think the welds look like $hi!... for $108 I want a GOOD quality part!!!....but thats me...
also when I ordered it I told them that I was going to use a electric dump on it and does it have 3 bolt flange....I got a "don't worry we sent it out to you".....

the pics don't really show the gaps and non penetration ....I was going to keep it till he said in my feed back that I burnt him..man that kills me ..I payed asap when I used the buy it now..
Here's the pics of a quality pipe "with out a cat flange" and a pic of what they use on eBay...I should of got it from one of our vender's...;)

Testpipe

That's a bummer dude. What is the overall length? If I remember years ago alot of the testpipes were made to to fit where the cat was located and would hook righht up to the stock exhaust without any adjustment. When it was time for emmisions you took the testpipe off and put the restrictive cat back on. Actually still have one thats the same length as a original cat.

The one they sold you looks long, will you have to modify your plumbing to squeeze it in. May be it just looks long cause they welded the cutout so close to the rectangular flange. I don't blame you for getting upset even if you put it on and like it, that is some shoddy workmanship. If you can get your money back I have one I'd give you , well even if you don't get your money back you can have it, it's only 2.5" and it's not SS. I'll never use it as I run a muffler with a turnndown straight off the DP. Let me know if , probably cost ya' 10 bucks to ship it....

i'll second that, i know we try to save a buck when we can, but sometimes it's just not worth it, i'm sure your not the first person this has happened too

Looks Like You Could Mount A Small Block Chev Thermostat Housing On That Cut Out "good Luck"

Lol

It's going to be a hard case to argue. Although it looks home made, it probably is functional. You might be able to argue that the two bolt flange is useless with trying to fit the electric bypass on it.

wow, interesting...I just contacted RMT Performance through eBay a few days ago regarding a dump for my GN. I thought their price was high for a mild steel piece. I also thought it was weird when they said their turbo Buick dump was 19" long! yes, that's *nineteen* inches long! from what I've seen, all the Buick vendor's dumps are about 13" long. I've been looking for one about 15-16" long, but I'd have to cut that RMT unit to make it fit if they told me correctly.

a board member suggested I order one from GN1 Performance. Their piece is the same price, made out of SS and looks beautiful! However it's still only 13" long.

I may end up ordering one from GN1 Performance, but first I'm going to try splicing together a $40 stainless dump (made by QTP and ordered from Summit Racing) onto the flange from my non-dump testpipe. That should allow me to get the length I need and end up with an all stainless dump for less than $60.

You might also consider ordering a dump from a place like Summit racing (they have several different brands to choose from) and then ordering the four-bolt flange from RJC Racing. If you can weld it yourself, then your set, if not, a muffler shop should be able to weld it up for you.

I don't remember how long it is off hand.....my car is still under a cover where its been for 3 years now....
I'm getting my brother to take it to his work and fix the welds and cut off the flange and replace it with a 3 bolt one...
Thanks for the offer ChavoLC2 ...thats really nice of you...There's a bunch of really nice guys here..

Dude, is that pic the one that they had on the ebay auction? If it is, it's your fault for buying a piece of krap. You can see it is junky in the pic. If not, did they have any pics on ebay?
