Is there any people here that use it alot?

How do I get a paypal account?

Since I have never used Ebay cause of the horror storys I have heard about it and chose to stay away from, but now Im thinking of missing with it to sell off some of the things I have collecting dust.

i opened a separate account at the bank to keep 500.00 or less in as a Balance.I linked it to me paypal account. You have to link it to a credit card or bank account.I ddnt want to link a CC or my normal banking to the account.Ive used ebay selling and buying since 99 a few ripoffs but no more than this very site

If you get ripped off is it possible to get your money back?

I know these are dumb questions, but I would rather ask people that have used it then the site cause there can be 2 different things there.

easier to use craigslist & deal with people in person & with cash than dealing with paypal.

Yea, but somethings I have I cant sale around here.

Been using Paypal since it was "Always Free!" (that used to be their slogan,:D) Ebay since 1999. Only problem I had was when a customer filed a dispute because his order was a day late.

Used to sell a lot on ebay but got tired of all the fees between them and then Paypal. Sell an item for $25 and you don't make much profit. Not to mention shipping costs, EVERYONE has gone up recently, USPS, UPS and FedEx.

If you use Craigslist, there are no fees but you are subject to the whims of the buyers, no real honor system there.

I will probably start listing some more stuff on ebay again to see how it goes.

Just had someone around here get beat up and his car stolen when he met up with some "buyers" for his wheels. Took the wheels AND his car.

Have only used it twice and did sell both items right away but some of the people that show up at your house can be a bit bizarre. Sold a futon and a huge dog crate so wasn't about to ship them so had them come to the house.

Thats the nightmares Im talking about! However if they come to my house its so far in nowhere and my little brothers place is across the field and he can reach out and touch someone.

You have 30 days to make a claim with PP if someone hoses you. I got burned on that a few years back cause I tried waiting to give the guy a chance to square up. He didnt and more then 30 days past and PP told me to pound sand.

They have insurance to cover claims so make sure you file within the 30 day period. Chances are slim ull get screwed tho.

Link ur PP account to an account that has limited funds. Maybe $500 or so. People do hack into PP accounts so limit the amount of money they could take.

Its not a perfect system but ive bought hundreds of items with PP.

I understand what your saying I might just put 200 bucks in mine. Going to start on my man cave very soon.

Craigslist sucks you get spammers who pretend to be interested in your item and when if you respond by email you get spammed.
I sold a Ttype on Ebay last year and just sold my jeep it has a much wider market.

Been doing ebay and paypal for quite some time. Good way to reach more people and sometimes get more than you expected. Paypal has been decent to us, other than the time my wife bought something from someone, paypal'ed them, they closed their bank account and kept the $. That was more of a Craigslist + Paypal boning though. Ebay is pretty good, can't really complain, other than the fees they charge. You pay once a month when active, so the fees can really sneak up on you if you sell a lot and forget about them.

Separate account it a smart way to do it. Separate email for paypal and ebay, separate bank acct for those funds, etc. Just to be safe.

I strongly advise against using eBay, I've been scammed three times and their customer support team has no regard for their customers whatsoever... probably because they're all located in India under the outsourcing bill created during the Clinton Admin.
Just right now as I type this I am on hold for a third time because their call center in India hangs up on you when they say they're gonna put you on hold for a few minutes to review.
So far I lost out on my lunch hour and am now 41 minutes into another call on hold for the third time all because some buyer in Canada is trying to scam me by extorting me with negative feedback to get US shipping rates.
One time I had guy open up a PayPal dispute for an NOS item and send back the used item he replaced it with, PayPal did nothing since a tracking number was all they needed to confirm that the item was sent back.
Their fees are rediculous as well...
If you use Craigslist don't give out your phone number, ask for theirs and if you have to meet them do it in the police station parking lot, that's what I do...

With Craigslist it is just like the want ads of years ago. Some people will never show up to buy items and leave you hanging.

With CL, I block the email & figure if they are serious they will call on phone (it eliminates the spammers).

If they have a local number in my city I don't mind them meeting at my house.
Just sold a snow roof rake this way.

Otherwise the local PD Station lot or a BUSY store parking lot. Bring a friend & take down the number of thier car before you get out to make a deal.

Ebay is SUCKING latly. Buyers don't read beyond the photos

This is what I got today from a Craigslisting from months ago.

Hey There!

Just a message about something I am sure you will be interested in. This great set of guides can get you generating a decent living over net.

Unfortunately for me I was made redundant so was very relieved to stumble on this, especially after I was forced to sell my mums jewelry to cover the weeks living. Only took 4 days to get running

Just enter in "Home Affluence Network" into Google for info

best of luck, Reagan

and you would want to post your phone number on there!?

my experiance but yours may be different

i've sold over 1000 items on there back between 02-05. ran a pawnshop so you can imagine the stuff i listed plus some of my own stuff. my 02 is open a different account with just 200 in it, reason being is that if you get a dispute and you being the seller you wont win. i've never won any of the ones i've had on me and i've had some switcher-roo's which i had pics of the original and just some shady deals. the least you have in the bank account the better in case you get a scammer. if your new you won't be able to open a paypal for 3 months or more. but don't link it to your personal account as you can lose a dispute and when the dispute is filed the money is frozen. now it's been serveral years since ive used my account but unless they have changed their rules i'd be careful. alot of scammers out there these days, good luck on your venture but in my 02 ebay has been played out by now. sure you can find some good deals but most of the time it's new stuff only with some used stuff here and there.

Congrats! Your 1000th post. :D

thanks but i closed the account

got tired of it but have considered reopening it. over all i made alot of money but the chargebacks hurt on stuff that are low profit.
