ECM Upgrade Options

So I'm looking into upgrading my ECM. I started out looking at programmable boost controllers and came across this: e-boost2 but was told by a friend that that's close to the price of a low end engine management system. In my search for a programmable engine management/boost controller I came across this: XS DETEC Granted, I think the idea of tuning with a Gameboy is a little bit hokey and a lot ricerish, but I really like the idea of being able to map boost with TPS as one of the parameters. If I'm looking at the $500 or so price range, could I possibly find a programmable system that could control boost/fuel/spark and just be done with it? I know next to nothing beyond sending chips out to get them burned, so I'm kinda starting from scratch knowledge-wise. Any input is much appreciated :biggrin:
