I have had this occur 3 times now since I installed a new motor and trans. Log 1 is a clean run and Log 2 is 5 minutes later when the motor looses all power for a fraction of a second. I lift immediately the motor does not die ??? I am thinking the new crank sensor is possibly the problem, looking for any input on this situation.

ECU, wiring harness and most of the sensors are from the previous build with no problems. New sensors, crank, cam, oil pressure, knock sensor.

42k miles on the rest of the car and parts. The ECU is modded but has run fine for 3 years.

Every sensor in the log drops to 0 except the WBO2 that is not controlled by the ECU

Motor and trans now has about 800 miles with no problems........except this

I have gone through every connection and ground, everything is clean and solid. Dry desert conditions and over a month since the last car wash.

Thanks
Steve

Maybe a thermal problem in the ecu? Do you have another you can swap it out with? I can't read the logs. Is the event taking place at the same time each occurrence or is it random?

Unfortunately being a modded ECU I only have one, I have a stock and reman ECU if I dont resolve the problem I may go to 60lb injectors and the stock ECU.

In the 3 occurances it has been in 3rd gear under full throttle.

I would check the orange wire at the battery for the ECM , I had one that was making and breaking at the postive terminal , like to drove me crazy till I replaced + and - cables from Casper and no more problem . Another thing if you have + cable hitting exhaust when running all balls out also .

Same thing happened to me. My downpipe briefly hit my pos battery cable. I replaced and rerouted my battery cable, no more problems.

We had a GN recently with the same issue and the ECM was changed and solved the problem.

I would try a stock ECM even if it is not modified for your injectors it will tell you if your ECM is the issue?

I thought it would harm the injector drivers if the impedance was wrong?

Thanks for the info Nick!

Thank you all for the informative comments I will check them all out.

I have recently experienced similar problems lately. It would start breaking up above 4000 rpm but run normal everywhere else.

I checked all the normal stuff, IE: coils, plugs/wires cam, crank sensor and module. I only checked the ECM when the CEL started flickering yesterday and found that there was a little corrosion on a couple of the chips pins in one area.

I cleaned the contacts on the chip and haven't taken the car for a ride yet but if it still breaks up I will condemn the ECM because I didn't have this problem until I put the current ECM in the car.

It ran fine for a month or so after the install and is why I didn't start there when I started having the problems. My guess is that the ECM I bought off the board has been sitting for a long time [years] in a junk yard and it has corrosion in there that I probably won't be able to eradicate and will have to find another ECM.
