Do any of you guys run this EGT guage? Do you think that an EGT guage is an EGT guage, or do you get what you pay for? Would this one be inaccurate? It's only $50
Thanks for any advise.$50 EGT guage

Man, it just breaks my heart to see that TTA in the background. I swear I'm gonna get another one of those in the future. What are they going for these days?

I'd rather go with something that's tried and true in the TR crowd. You know all those ricers on the forums I usually get info from think they have to spend lots of money on all the Greddy and HKS crap. Even autometer is way outta line.

I believe digital is better with peak hold so you can recall the number that is stored after a blast.

You have to look at the resolution on the smaller analog gauges and note any differences immediately after the run when you should be watching the road/track and slowing down.

Just my .02 on analog EGT's, even if they don't decay the readings that fast they are harder to read resolution wise.

Normally I prefer analog gauges myself but not in this case. :)

Which digi EGT guage do you use with those options? I like Steve's analog to digi converter with the DMM. What did thet run you steve? And will any DMM work?

Thanks for the sound advise.

So what you're saying is I could go with the $300 setup or the $75 setup and buy the type k thermocouplers seperate? Are the type k thermocouplers all the same or are some not accurate? Thanks for all the input. Great information!

All Type K's should be the same.

It designates the materials used at the junction.

If the meter and connectors and wire you use are all Type K compatible you should be set to go with any type K thermocouple.

Has anyone tried this one. Go to www.sears.com and search for
Sears Item #03482139000 . It is only about $30.
I have it, but have been unable to find the temp sensor. It is K type, but do K type just hook into a multimeter like the meter sensor wires do?

Deja vu! I was thinking about the same Sears meter. I saw one Sunday at the store but the guys that worked there know zip about multimeters. Today I called the Sears toll free number to get tech help. I talked to a guy that said he didn't think it had the features I wanted (min/max or peak hold with a minimum upper range of ~1800 F). He did give me the number for the company that makes them for Sears. They're made by Actron. 1-800-228-7667. I called them and none of the meters they make for Sears have the "peak hold" feature. You don't want to have to push the button on the meter to get it to store the max number for you. It's too bad. They're cheap and you can use them for something other than temperature.
