You come to pick the truck up, inspect it, shake hands and then drive it away....700 freakin miles with NO TAGS ON IT!!!!! Are you nuts to think that you can drive a vehicle from Baltimore to Chicago with no plates, registration or insurance?
If you were not satisfied with the truck, you should have said something when you picked it up....not after it got impounded because you illegally drove it away and got stung with a boat load of fines and tickest (sour grapes I believe is correct). You looked the truck over, shook my hand and headed out.

Maryland Judiciary Case Search

If anyone cares, click the above link and type in James Moran and click most recent to see exactly why the truck was impounded. In the state of Maryland, a signed clear title is the bill of sale which is exactly what you got.
It's not my fault you got burned by the state for being an idiot, it is yours.

If it were not for my "friend" putting his dealer license on the line, 6 hours of his time, tying up his roll back for the entire day and doing everything in my power to get the truck out of hock after you are an idiot and you fvcked up, it would still be sitting on the impound lot right now. I'm sure he did it just because he liked you and it had nothing to do with me extending myself to get it done.

Drive it back down to Baltimore (legally this time) and I will buy the truck back for what you paid for it minus the $500 I gave Will for dealing with your ungrateful ass all day.

Wow. I can't believe this response. Bill must be a buddy of yours?

Granted, there are 3 sides to a story: mine, yours, and the truth. But if even half of what he says is true, he got fubar'd.

Pit,

First two replys, Steves and mine were before the pics were posted, I cant speak for Steve but Myself after first reading the post I thought..oh lovely here we go, more crap spewing forth.
I checked back a little later and took a look at the posted pics and well, pretty ugly under there but 6k is still pretty cheap, do a frame off and sink some dough and still have a nice ride for under 14k I'll leave it at that.

Mike

Well I should have looked up Maryland laws myself but it would have been nice for you to mention that when I asked you to send me the title rather than saying "I'll just put it in the glovebox".

And yes, the car was TOWED because of no registration. The state police however did not want to let it out of IMPOUND because the title did not match the bill of sale. I allready clearly stated that I was very thankful for your friends help and I also filled the tank of his diesel truck he was driving (not his rollback) which cost $95.

Regardless of all that, I am over the bs with the title and only included it in my post to paint a complete picture of what happened. $340 in fines from the state of Maryland is peanuts compared to what it would cost to get this truck to the condition you described.

You are trying to belittle me with your childish response but the bottom line is read your description of the truck, then look at the pictures. You blatantly lied about the condition then refused to respond when I voiced my concerns.

You were to send a shipper to pick it up, you never did, I said I would put the title in the glove box to keep it with the truck, why is there a problem with this?

Thanks for the offer and the childish comment but I have clearly been grateful for your friends help. Like I've said before though I could have easily got it out of impound myself if the paperwork matched up.

And again, the major problem here is not about what happened. The major problem is your misrepresentation of a vehicle.

This is what I have into the truck so far-

Truck- $6,901

Transport-$850

Replacement front prop shaft- $120

New idler arm- $45

replaced rf brake line- $25

Total- $7,941

So I'm going to have to decline your less than generous offer of $6,401.

I would love for you to explain how you think your description of the Typhoon is even remotely accurate.

Well, I should have been informed up front if the vehicle was not in your name. We can look up some more Maryland laws but I believe that's illegal as well.

When I called to say I was flying in to pick it up that also probably would have been a good time to mention it.

so you decline to sell me the truck back minus $500 I gave Will (he should have lauged in your face for $95 in fuel) after you inspected it and drove it home. WTF is the problem here?

the title (bill of sale) was signed by the owner. WTF is the problem here?

That is a lie, that truck was not leaving impound until it had a legitimate tag on it, so you were on your way back to Chitown with nothing unless Will had agreed to let ME use his dealer tag

I'll say it again. When the state police are holding a title that says "William Lee" and I have a bill of sale that says "Bill Anderson" they tend to think that something is not right which is why they did not want to release the truck from impound.

And again. I am over the whole title issue and I'll ask you again to please explain to me how you think your description of the vehicle is even remotely close to it's actual condition.

Well i dont know Bill, but i havent seen any of those trucks forsale. Ive been looking for one. Anyway, the pics look nice on ebay, and i hope it works out for you. The only thing that would concern me is if the truck has the right, orginal engine, and trans. All in all it looks good for the price.

A buddy of mine bought a Land Rover in Baltimore a few years ago. He got pulled over on the way back and showed the officer (Highway Patrol) the signed/notarized title and his driver's license and kept going. I find it difficult to believe that MD requires an out of state buyer to register a vehicle that is going to be driven immediately out of the state. Each state has it's own laws, so oh well. Guess I'll never buy a car from MD.

We were there for hours while they would not release the truck because the paperwork did not match up. They finally called in the officer that issued me the tickets and he agreed to release the vehicle to me if we brought it right back to the shop with your friends dealer plate.

Does not change the fact that I couldn't get it released from impound because the paperwork did not match. Also I can't say it enough that I am completely over the whole title situation.

Even if the title was mint and I drove the truck straight home from your shop the condition of the vehicle was still entirely misrepresented.

explain to me how you in person looked it over indoors at my shop, said "it all looks good, does it need anything to get back to Chicago?" I responded with NO and you left with it!!
If I was as dis satisfied as you claim to be, I damn sure would have said something.

I too have been in similar situations which is why I wasn't initally concerned. I found out the hard way that if you are an out of state buyer you do in fact need to have the vehicle registered before it hits the highway.

you cant drive a car anywhere in this country without a license plate on it.

Bill you keep saying WTF is the problem!

Here is the problem!

1. Read ebay ad

2. Look at pictures

3. Explain to me how your description of the vehicle is not a complete lie.

I allready explained that I did not look over the vehicle carefully at your shop as it was my only ride home and I mistakenly trusted your description.
