ok my car is still running hot, I have the f-body radiator. when I turn on the ac it gets real hot. I have a 5 blade electric fans from the salvage yard but I dont think thats gonna be enuff. so whats yalls recomendation?

they had the fan loose, not sure what it came off of. right now I still have the clutch fan on it.

Post some pictures of the Fan, I bet it not close to pulling enough CFMs. Maybe it was for a lower(way) Horsepower car. Ford taurus or Mark 8 Fan are best Fans out there IMO. Anything above 2,300CFM is good but always want a bit more just in case.

What is your temp set at for the fan to come on? Thermostat?

went to salvage yard today, got 2 fans. One off a 90 caravan the other off mark VIII. gonna use the caravan, the shroud is the same size as the camaro radiator I have in my car and its a 2 speed fan. figure ill get 2 fan relays, wire one to a thermostat and the other(high) to the ac switch. Ill post some pics when I get started.

I have no idea the specs on the caravan fan. I would go with the Mark VIII It's a bit bigger but few members have them.. Me being on.

Yes Both relays sound good, they do sell a thermoswitch with a A/C relay built in. A manual switch is always nice, I didn't do so but Will.

A Metal fan shourd(radiator support) off a V8 g body will also bolt right up. IT will let you fab up brackets to bolt the fan to support or hold your radiator in place. Cost should be around 5$ no more then 10$ at the junk.

am i reading it right- seems like you have the stock clutch fan and the electric fans?
which of your cars are we talking about here? i'll assume it's the hotair, since that what section this is..

if you are going to run electric fans, ditch the mechanical fan and shroud. i kept my 400 HP Nova right at the 180 thermostat temp with an old 2 core copper/brass 6 cylinder radiator that had an electric fan and relay setup i pulled from a junk 4 cylinder 86 celebrity.
the only time the temp ever crept up was when i'd go for a long interstate drive at 75mph with the engine screaming 3500 rpm for an hour and a half on 90 degree summer days- and even then it would never see 200 and as soon as i slowed down the temp would drop right back down to 180.
in my Regal right now, i've got a 3 core radiator out of an early 80's Cutlass that has a 16" Hayden universal fan that i pulled from another Regal in a junkyard for $10 wired with a cheap Hayden relay kit that is controlled by the Turbo Tweak chip in an 87 ecm. i'm running the recommended 160 thermostat, and the cooling fan comes on at 175, i think. it runs down the road right at about 170, so the fan isn't operating while travelling at highway speeds. i'd really rather run something like a 180 or 190 thermostat for better fuel economy, but the Turbo Tweak chip is setup for the 160, so that's what i run.

sorry, I meant right now im running the clutch fan, I have a 5 blade fan that i got from a yard, but aint gonna use that one, I got this 9 blade off a caravan im putting on it now. I have a 87 ecm on the car and 160 stat, maybe I should get a turbo tweak chip? I was gonna get a adjustable thermostat relay and use that.

If you already have a ECM in car, which i think you don't as of yet. When you do a TT chip is a must. If you want the ECM to control the fan on/off temp setting, you have to get the harness at casper's electronics. Should't cost to much and great way of letting the ECM control it, again whatever you do make a manual overide switch just in case something fails.

ok got 2 40a relays, adjustable thermostat switch from napa. this is a camaro radiator with a 90 dodge caravan fan.
