Is there a way to eliminate the MAF sensor on a GN? I have a nice 4 inch cold air intake that a friend is giving me but it doesn't use a MAF. and also i would like to make the engine look as clean as possible so eliminating the unit would look nice.

You can get a speed density chip(mafless) from turbo tweak. Or a different route would be the more complex Translator Pro which runs speed density, or even more expensive and complex route would be a complete aftermarket ECM of which there are many.

You need to change chips to a speed density. Get in touch with Eric Marshall at Turbotweek chips and inj. He will set you up or explain the pros/cons of doing so.

I run a 4" LS7 slot style MAF sensor with the basic Translator. Some say it has eddy current issues, but on my stroker it seems to have enough air at idle to be just fine. It's never stalled or acted funny other than it runs a little lean (16+ AFR) idling after driving it around and pulling into the driveway and putting it into park. I wonder if you could mount the slot style sensor on the bottom of the pipe to keep it "clean"...

Also take a look at Spectre part # 9705 as a temporary solution

Your comment about (16+AFR) caught my attention. I have a 6.1 TT chip that works great on a stock 40k MAF it does the same thing at hot idle. If I pull it in gear it will drop to 14.5 range, I thought my MAF was going out?

I was considering going SD, maybe it just the chip? Any thoughts?

My guess is the narrow band O2 is wonky as my cross counts are locked when it happens. I changed the narrow band sensor and it still happens. My BLM and INT are good. My IAC is a bit higher than I'd like but I've not worried too much since it seems to idle ok. The only other thing I can think of that happens differently is when its hot and idling, the high speed fan is on pulling current, could be causing havoc with voltage requirement elsewhere?

I have been searching for vacuum leaks and sensor problems but have not found any. Sometimes it goes away and idles around 14.5 steady?
If I didn't have the wide band I probably would not notice it much, just slightly rough idle sometimes.
