Just below the fuel pressure regulator there is a sensor or switch that is positioned vertically. Is this the Coolant Temp Sensor or the Engine Coolant Temp Fan Control? I was working on my car last night and this part was loose. I took a closer look and it was broken. It may just be the pigtail broken. I need to buy a replacement but I don't know what to order.

I have another question- My car has been running between 1200 and 1500 rpms at idle. The O2 is running between 850 and 900. Could this be a result of this broken part? Thanks for your help.

It is a backup that overides the ECU to turn the fans on if they do not come on when commanded.

As the others have stated it's the high temp fan switch, and doesn't kick in till about 200deg.

The actual coolant sensor that feeds the ECM is just below that one and sticking out of the front of the intake manifold coolant passage. It has a two wire connector.

Thanks everybody. Now I need to find where I can buy the parts. I haven't come across the pig tail connector yet in my searches. Does anyone have any idea where I can locate the pig tail connector?

Thanks. I see the temperature switch- KEMPARTS Part #RF39 on the left below.
I just can't find the pigtail that has one wire. The only ones I've found so far are like the one pictured below on the right.

What you are looking for is AIRTEX Part # 1P1029, they put it under electrical connector/radiator fan motor connector. Probably not the best place to list it in their catalog.
