Engine cuts off

I have a fast sys. logging at 10 frames per sec. is it possible to hit rev limiter and not show up within 10th sec.? On a hard luanch the motor cuts off like it hits rev. limiter "set at 8000" On the lasts log it went from 5700rpm. down to 3750rpm. in two frames. It has done this several times. Any ideas?
