Iam having a problem with my engine. At the red light you can touch the gas pedal and it boost up and hauls ass, the next red light it just sits there with the pedal to the floor. Can someone give me there phone number to where I can talk to them direct about what is going on? Thanks for the help, Mike

Its anyones guess but mine was "lazy" sometimes until I installed the heads, exhaust, IC, Tweak, Razor's, etc. Now, with the little PTA49 its a street ripper. Sounds like you're having trouble spooling at times which could mean there's a bottleneck somewhere. What are your mods?

Thanks for the help. First I have a stock turbo with 3 inch downpipe, boost controller that I just installed today. 36lb inj. tt chip, dw neck on stock intercooler, cold air kit, new cam sensor, new crank sensor, new coil & module, wires, plugs and ecm. You name it I just about have replaced it when I was going thru the car. But the problem has always been there. I bought the car from the original owner and it was sitting up for about 5 years. It took alot of money and time to get it where it is now. Complete overhaul. Thanks, my number is 1-601-824-2931. Mike

I think the problem you are having with the lack of responses is due to nobody really understanding what you're trying to ask. 'goes one sec., sits there with the pedal to the floor the next' doesn't really DESCRIBE the problem you're having. Does the engine die? Is it missing/stumbling/coughing when you hit the gas? Also, DO YOU HAVE A SCAN TOOL of some sort?? If not, you definitely are gonna' need one, plan that as your next upgrade. Are you running the stock MAF? or do you have a MAF Translator setup? Do you know what your fuel pressure is doing? Try to be as specific as possible about the problem you are having, and we'll try our best to help.... at least I will...

Was the tranny redone as it could be the Torque converter ( wrong stall speed)..When you power brake the car the wheels don't break loose but what are the RPM's??

Do you .....

have a boost when it is just sitting there w/your foot to the floor? Is the engine revving up? Is there fluid in the transmission? Wastegate puck sealing on the turbo bypass?

Thanks for responding. You hold the brake and touch the gas pedal and it boost up and break the tires loose. The second time you do the samething the boost will come up and the rpms are under 2000 and the car just sits there doing nothing. I noticed some black smoke only when its not acting right. Stock maf, 3 inch downpipe, actuator, cam sensor, crank sensor, intercooler neck, throttle enhancer,36 lb inj. turbo tweak chip, coil, ignition model plus, wires, ETC. It is hard to explain what and how the car is acting, without actually talking to someone. Thanks Mike 601-405-1205

Sounds like the problem is fairly intermittent, and likely fueling related. Do you have a fuel pressure gage? Would be helpful to know what your FP is set at, and whether it's responding as it should. Also, sounds like it could be MAF or maybe even TPS related. Try tapping/rapping the MAF lightly with a screwdriver handle while the car is idling and see if the engine stumbles. If so, there's your problem. The 'throttle enhancer' is additional complication and totally unnessesary. No performance gain there. I would remove it, and verify proper setting of the TPS. Here's the procedure for setting the TPS - it's very important to have it right...
Adjusting the TPS ....Courtesy of GNTTYPE.org
You can do the TPS setting with a multimeter, but you really need to get yourself a scantool. You're gonna' need one.... well, you already do.... We could look at the TPS volts, IAC counts, O2 sensor numbers, etc. if you had them, and better diagnose what's going on. Start with the above, and let us know from there....

Fuel psi is42 lbs at 17 lbs of boost with no knock. Tried another maf. Will remove throttle enhancer and adjust tps again. Installed another turbo today and a alky kit, but am not thru and might not get to try car until middle of next week(raining). So far the checks are in specs when its acts up. Thanks Mike

I am inclined ...

to agree w/wickedtt. the trans or the converter seems to be at fault. the stock converter stall is around 1800 rpm if I remember correctly. Mine would stall up to 2600(?) maybe you have the 9/11 torque converter. It has the characteristics of the stock until you mash on it and it changes to the hi-stall. If not, then it is trans rebuild time, the clutches are slipping after you heat them up one time. a mis-adjusted tv cable can cause a short life on them. that would not be good news, unless you have the tools and the knowledge to make the repairs. Ask me how I know, I have 4 sitting in my garage. Are you using a trans cooler? It is a must on these cars, especially in hot climates.
Sounds like you are gearing up for some serious business w/the new turbo and alchy. Keep us informed. I will try to call you today after noon if I get a chane. If not, I will for sure tomorrow(monday) around 0900hrs.
