What are the typical gains (reductions) in ET with a 10sec TR while locking the converter. I'm not so interested in MPH gains, but list them also. I'm looking for comparisons of lock vs non lock, and not so much with a stall change. I'm trying to see if it's worth the $$ vs the gain in ET. I believe that, MPH increases are the norm and not as much in ET's. On my other car (GN), I would gain 1 tenth and 2 or so MPH with the stock (tighter) converter when it was a high 11 sec/ low 12 sec car, but I'm now interested in 10sec cars.

Thanks for any info, Clem

TCC lock

I've heard 0.2 sec decrease in ET depending on when locked vs unlocked :)

Depends.

Lockup converters weigh more, and most 10 sec 109 motors are spun pretty high due to cams/turbo's used. So locking and bringing the rpm's down moves the motor out of its power band.

On a 10 sec combo.. non-lockup

And the only lockup I know off that will not slip at very high power levels is the multi-disc vigilante

Non-lockup the car will be faster. My .02

If the car is one of those running a stock cam.. then locking it up is the way to go. In case of a 67 turbo, stock longblock.. 35 PSI boost.. then by locking it up.. when it hits 2nd, the rpm's drop into the mid 4000's and power is made.

If the cam is healthy..
