o.k.,everyone go pop the hood and look at something for me.

there is a ~1" wire loom coming out from under your wiper motor.on my car(and cool84's)there is a dark green wire coming out of this loom with a female connector on the end,it might stick out 6".

if you have this wire,it should be wired to the power injection light in your dash:).you may have to pop the dash and install a bulb in the socket, but i didn't.

i just want to get an idea of what cars do or don't have this wire.so if you have a later car, check and let us know!

thank you for your cooperation:D.

later,sean

I just checked my dad's 87 and his 84 GN and can't find the wire in either one. I have the wiper motor removed in mine so maybe that's why I can find it in mine. Is it underneath the wiper motor? I'm going to look again in the daylight tomorrow.

BTW, how did you discover the wire? I bet it will be a good story. :)

on my car it comes out of the loom just as it clears the wiper motor.

I'm at home right now and I'm going to take note of exactly where the wire is on my car and compare it to the 87 tomorrow.

My car's covered with snow AND a cover, but I'm pretty sure I know which wire you're talking about! So, just apply 12 volts to that wire, and the PI light should fire, correct?

that's the way it's gone with two of us so far!:)

hey matt, did you have to put a bulb in the socket in the dash?mine already had one...

i won't ask you to shovel snow,kevin:D.

I really can't say for sure if I had to put a bulb in. When I bought the car the dash lights wouldn't work so I replaced every single light (I was only 17). I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have installed a bulb there if there wasn't already one installed but I really can't remember 5 years ago.

I got off of work too late today to look at the turbo T but I'm going tomorrow and looking in the sunlight for sure.

Found the wire but

I found the wire just sitting there under the hood right where you said but, there's no socket to put a bulb in my dash. The hole is there, the shine through panel is marked the spot is there but, no socket it to be found.

John84GN this helps those of us who want to know when or if the alky or nos is on and working.

I checked today...my 84 GN has the wire with the connector on it....hrm.....I think I should make my car the way GM wanted to...with Alky :)!

John, GM was going to add water/alcohol injection to the turbo buicks after 1984, but it never happened. But they DID get the "Power Injection" idiot light filters printed up wired!

Some folks think the light was supposed to come on while the injection was functioning, but my opinion is that it was to warn the driver that the water/alcohol container was nearly empty!

well in any case.. just get a little peanut light holder/socket and pop it in.. there was not one on my car.

is the wire there on your car nick?

I checked my car, and I also have the green wire coming out from under the wiper motor with a female connector. And I have a light in the power injection too :) So im gonna try hooking it up and see what happens :p

ya im pretty sure the wire is there.... ill look tomorrow when its light, and not 28 degrees

ok well i took apart the whole dash to swap bulbs (i put GM spec blue/green bulbs in cause i was bored and wondered what it woudl look like.) anyway..i went to put a bulb and socket in the hole and there was no metal on the PCB for the power injection hole.. oh well no wonder it didnt work.. i soldered 2 wires to the light of course and left some wire under the dash so i can hook it up later ;) same goes for the security light..

thanx for looking nick.i'd say this now officially makes no sense:D.

fwiw,my security light works and is wired in from the factory.

i haven't checked my low fuel light to see if it's wired to anything.

later,sean

the pcb doesnt allow for security, low fuel, car is leveling, and power injection on my car..

then again.. last time i took out my speedo it said it had been serviced by some company.. maybe they swapped the complete cluster?

not sure.. the blue/green GM bulbs look neat.. not as bright as they could be but hey.. they were free.. im thinking of going with all orange for the hvac/console/ my new oil volt water gauges, to match my orange radio.. haha.. yea when i get bored i take apart the dash on my car and swap bulbs.. i really get tired of the plain white...
