Excessive Acceleration

This is not a kill story but wanted to tell what happened to me last night. I was driving my GN last night and came to a T in the highway. When i stopped there were 2 highway patrol cars sitting there. I turned right and accelerated up to 65 miles an hour and stayed right there. Now this is at 9:30 pm and it is dark and I live 3 miles from that intersection an I looked back in my rear view mirror and see now one and i turn on my signal and the red lights come on both cars and it freaked me out!! So i pull over and the cop comes running up to my car and i allready have the door open and he starts yelling for me to turn the car off and get out!. Of course he wants my drivers license and reg. so i give it to him and the next question is "you been drinking tonight?" I told him no and i asked him what he stopped me for and he said i clocked you at 95mph and i told him that was BS and he said "Get in my car!" I went to his car and sit down and he told me he really didnt clock me at 95 but he was going to write me a ticket for Excessive Acceleration!! I told him that was BS{i really told him that] I said so what do you do if a person was pulling up to an interstate on ramp and had to accelerate fast to get on the highway, you going to write him a ticket for that? he said you have a good point, i guess you had better go on your way!! So i got back in my car and left. I guess he got pissed off cause i just burned his butt when i didnt lay and rubber!!

jeeez...

But then most cops would tell ya to keep your ass in the car with gun drawn cuz you had the door opened and if they put ya in their cruiser, i would have thunk they would pat ya down first.

You would think but today i called a friend of mine whose wife works at the sheriffs office and she said he is a rookie who just started the first of the year and i bet he does it different next time!

kinda what i gathered by reading the course of events

Why would you get out of the car? Havent you ever seen COPS?? Just get your license, reg, and ins ready. On another note, You should of accelerated heavily when you pulled away from him ;)

To tell you the truth i was just a little ticked when they ran behind me with no lights and then turned them on like they did when i turned the corner. I think that was pretty dangerous driving down a major highway with no lights on to pull me over. I did not get a chance to ask them about that when he was yelling so much!

You can pretty much accelerate as hard as you want if conditions permit it. If do not break traction or break the speed limit at the end of your burst then he cant write you up for anything. That was a bs stop.

I think he thought I might of been drinking so he could have hauled me to jail and got to tow my GN off. But when he saw i hadnt he was trying to come up with some excuse and i called BS! and he knew it would not hold up in any court and would have got his butt in trouble!

Here they use the term "exhibition of speed" and it's a nice little fine.

Ha guy most of had a bad day so he felt like pulling you over. I live in Bay City MI and if you have a loud or fast car your just asking for a ticket my. Brother has a 72 chevy custom 10 with a 427 supercharged motor oh ya lifted and 4 wheel drive and they dont pull him over for anything i know alot of guys with built trucks and if they do get pulled over they get off pretty easy.

Yep. Exhibition of speed = Excessive Acceleration.
Yet another traffic law I have issue with.
What constitutes excessive?
Wheelspin, yeah, chirping tires, yeah, but beyond that.. its a case of getting written up for whatever the officer decides. I have a problem with tickets written based on opinions and no facts. (not even a guess at a fact, like speed estimation..) So in that respect, yeah, it is a BS ticket.

What? Are you saying that cops can give tickets solely based on their intelligence or their lack thereof? Eventually they'll only pull over cars they don't like. Oh ****! Too late!

you aren't kidding! i was driving on I-96, to Novi, and i got pulled over by a cop...in decent traffic...for too loud of exhaust:p here i was worrying about what i was pulled over for and then when he told me i felt kinda good! obviously this cop has never been to big rapids, michigan where no car has exhaust, i atleast have full exhaust...its just a little noisey:cool:
