Is there anything that can be used to coat exhaust pipe to prevent rust?

Thanks for anything!

Read a real interesting article in Car Craft this month about Jet Hot Coat. There were no real horse power benefits , but the coating out lasts anything out there and also brings down engine compartment temps which in the real world would produce horse power.

If money is no issue there are all stainless pieces available through ATR. But if it is you can have it jet hot coated if you want to do anything from the cat to the engine you have to get the inside race coated and then the jet hot on the outside of the pipe because the temps are too hot for the jet hot to last. I talked to a coating company and they said they have tried to jet hot certain pipes on a turbo application and it will start to pell off after a while if it is not race coated on the inside first.

If you are interested in doing the contact HPC coating. I wouldn't recommend coating the inside of the exhaust that is why we went with this company. They coat jets with this stuff which gets a lot hotter then one of our cars. Anyways coating the inside can cause issue if that material were to flake off and get into the inside of the turbo. We researched this and found HPC to deliver what we were looking for. Just my 2 cents.

I have my 3" Downpipe Jet-Hot Coated with their High Temp 2000 degree coating. (Black)

It has held up great, and I have had it on the car for about 7000 miles, and a few passes down the track. I don't know if I saw much of a gain from it, but with the coating the downpipe cools off alot faster, and there is no sign of rust anywhere on the pipe. (Which is a good sign for a high temp exhaust part not made of Stainless!)

It cost me about $80 to get the pipe done.

So what does the hpc coating look like? Is it black? If you just do the inside coating on the down pipe alone if it flakes off it will just go through the rest of the exhaust and vent to atomosphere.

I opted for the black (since nothing in the motor is really shiney anyways) You can get gray and I think one other color option for the highest temp coating they have. Did notice that the heat being disturbuted is not as much now and just like the idea the damn things will never rust or deteriorate. The only downside is they are usually pretty busy and there is about a 4 week turn around. But really helpful and great to work with.

We did the turbo cover too, that's what I was referring too. Not real keen on having coating on the inside of anything with these stupid cars.
